MTV3
MTV3 (, ) is a Finnish commercial television channel owned and operated by the media company MTV Oy, originally launched on 13 August 1957 as a programming block, becoming its own channel on 1 January 1993. It had the biggest audience share of all Finnish TV channels until Yle TV1 (from Yle) took the lead. MTV actually stands for Mainos-TV (literally "Advertisement-TV", i.e. "Commercial TV), due to the channel carrying advertising for revenue. Number 3 was added later, when the channel was allocated the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three"— Finnish Broadcasting Company's Yle TV1 and Yle TV2 being the first two—and also to distinguish it from the later MTV Finland, which is a Finnish version of Paramount's MTV channel. From 1957 until 2001, the channel's logo was a stylised owl, changed to an owl's eye after an image renewal in 2001, which was then used until 2013. MTV3 has about 500 employees. It is also known as Maik ...

Kolmoskanava
Kolmoskanava (also known as TV3 and informally as Kolmonen) was a Finnish free-to-air television station owned and operated by Oy Kolmostelevisio Ab, a joint venture between MTV Oy, Yle and Nokia. The latter's interest in television operations stemmed from the fact that the channel was originally planned to be an encrypted, over-the-air channel, as it was also involved in receiver manufacturing at the time, especially in the European hotel TV business; it is said that the company would manufacture decoders for the channel. The channel was launched on December 1, 1986, and closed on the New Year's Eve night of December 31, 1992 with MTV3 starting its broadcasts simultaneously. Being the first nationwide commercial channel in Finland, Kolmoskanava did not produce any of its programmes themselves, instead relying on imported programmes (mostly TV shows and movies from North America), sports and a small number of Finnish programmes, most notably the bingo game show A game sho ...

Commercial Broadcasting
Commercial broadcasting (also called private broadcasting) is the broadcasting of television programs and radio programming by privately owned corporate media, as opposed to state sponsorship, for example. It was the United States' first model of radio (and later television) during the 1920s, in contrast with the public television model during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, which prevailed worldwide, except in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, until the 1980s. Features Advertising Commercial broadcasting is primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements and television advertisements for profit. This is in contrast to public broadcasting, which receives government subsidies and usually does not have paid advertising interrupting the show. During pledge drives, some public broadcasters will interrupt shows to ask for donations. In the United States, non-commercial educational (NCE) television and radio exist in the form of community radio; however, pre ...

Tesvisio
Tesvisio (earlier TES-TV) was the first television channel in Finland. It began regular broadcasts on March 21, 1956 and continued broadcasting until March 1965, when it was turned into Yle TV2. The channel began as a television experiment by (later ), an association of radio and electronics engineers who had begun test broadcasts as early as 20 April 1955, from premises rented from the Helsinki University of Technology. Their first public broadcast, which was aired on 24 May 1955, is considered the first broadcast in Finnish television history. Regular broadcasts began in 1956 after the foundation began supporting the project; Yleisradio was then more focused on building and expanding its FM radio network and considered television to be less of a priority. The channel was soon named ''TES-TV'' after them. The final name ''Tesvisio'' was adopted in 1960 after the management was spun off into a separate company. Tesvisio was a commercial channel funded by advertising. The main ...
