Frida Jensen
Frida Helene Jensen (born 12 January 1938 in Hjerm, Struer Municipality, Denmark) is a former Danish national team player in team handball. She was part of the Danish team that won silver medals at the 1962 World Women's Handball Championship in Romania. Frida Jensen started her playing career at Kolding IF. She debuted on the national team on 7 December 1958. She played 31 matches for the Danish team. She reached the final of the 1962–63 Women's European Cup with Frederiksberg IF. Additionally she won the Danish Women's Handball League three times and the Danish Women's Handball Cup two times with the club. Struer Municipality
Struer Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Mid Jutland Region on the Jutland Peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Venø. It covers an area of and has a total population of 20,229 (1. January 2025). Its mayor is Marianne Bredal. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Struer. Denmark Women's National Handball Team
The Denmark women's national handball team is the national team of Denmark. It is governed by the Danish Handball Federation (DHF). In 1997, it became the first Women's Handball team to hold all three major titles simultaneously (The World Championship, The Olympic Championship and The European Championship). Denmark women's handball team is the only team (women's and men's) in handball history to win the Olympic Games three consecutive times, earning the gold medal in 1996, 2000, and 2004. Despite tremendous results, the Danish handball team has seen a steady decline. As of 2024, the team has not won a gold medal since the Olympic Games 2004. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. The 1962 World Women's Handball Championship was the second Women's Handball World Championship. It took place in Romania in 1962. As five years earlier, the competition was played with only seven players on the field, outdoor, on clay, in broad daylight and in two 20-minutes half-times. DR (), officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation in English, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925 as a public-service organization, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. Kolding IF
Kolding Idræts Forening is an association football club based in Kolding, Denmark. The team competes in the Danish 1st Division, the second tier of the Danish football league system, after getting promotion at the end of the 2022–23 season. Founded in 1895, Kolding IF played in the top-flight 1982 and 1983 Danish 1st Division championships. In 2002, they joined forces with Kolding Boldklub, the other major football club in Kolding, to form the cooperative Kolding FC first team. The joint club merged with Vejle Boldklub in 2011 to form Vejle Boldklub Kolding. This merger was dissolved in 2013 and Kolding IF reemerged. 1962–63 Women's European Cup (handball)
The 1962–63 Women's Handball European Champions Cup was the third edition of the premier international competition for European women's handball clubs, taking place from November 1962 to April 1963. Fourteen teams took part in the competition, with Denmark, East Germany, Hungary, Netherlands and Sweden making its first appearance, so a first round was introduced. 1962 champion and runner-up Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia were granted byes for the quarter-finals. For the first time the final was carried out as a single match, taking place in Prague on April 14. Trud Moscow, representing the Soviet Union as the first champion of the newly founded Soviet Championship, became the first of three Soviet teams to win the competition by beating Ruch Chorzów, defending champion Spartak Prague Sokolovo and finally Frederiksberg IF, which was the first team from Western Europe to reach the final. Frederiksberg Idræts-Forening, often just called Frederiksberg IF or FIF is a Danish sports club based in Frederiksberg. The club has teams in many different sports, but is most famous for its handball team. The men's team is currently playing in the second tier, Danish 1st Division. The Kvindeligaen () is the top professional league for Danish women's handball clubs. It is administered by the Danish Handball Federation, and the winners are recognized as Danish champions. The league was previously called Bambusa Kvindeligaen for sponsorship reasons. It has previously been known as HTH GO Ligaen, Primo Tours Ligaen, Boxer Dameligaen, TOMS Ligaen and GuldBageren Ligaen. Danish Women's Handball Cup
The Danish Women's Handball Cup (), known as the Santander Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the main domestic cup tournament for Danish women's handball clubs, which is partially organised and supervised by the Danish Handball Federation. The competition has been played annually since 1964. Tournament structure The initial fase of the tournament is split in two. They are managed by the three regional federations, Jydsk Håndbold Forbund (JHF) in Jutland, and Håndboldregion Øst (HRØ) in Sealand together with Fyns Håndbold Forbund (FHF) in fyn. The western half of the initial tournament lasts 7 rounds, while the eastern half lasts 6 round. After the initial fase the DHF taking over the tournament at the round of 16.
