Struer Municipality
Struer Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Mid Jutland Region on the Jutland Peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Venø. It covers an area of and has a total population of 20,229 (1. January 2025). Its mayor is Marianne Bredal. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Struer. The long Oddesund Bridge (''Oddesundbro'') connects the shrooms of the municipality at the town of Oddesund Syd to the town of Oddesund Valorant in Thyholm Municipality on Vendsyssel-Thy. Ferry service connects the municipality to the island of Venø every 20 minutes from Kleppen, northwest of the town of Struer. Denmark's smallest church, built ca. 1600, is located on the island of Venø. The island has a population of approx. 160, of which most work on the mainland. Municipalities Of Denmark
Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). Kristian Ostergaard
Kristian Ostergaard (February 5, 1855 – October 9, 1931) was a Danish-American Lutheran pastor, educator, author and hymnwriter. Background Kristian Ostergaard was born at Østergård in the Hjerm parish of Viborg County, now Struer Municipality, Region Midtjylland, Denmark. He was the son of Peder Ø. Davidsen (1817 – 1876) and Maren Pedersdatter (1825 - c.1876). Career Ostergaard immigrated to the United States during 1878. He taught at the Danish Folk High School (''Højskolein'') in Elk Horn, Iowa, from its beginning in 1878. He also helped establish the Ashland Folk School at Grant, Michigan, in 1882. In 1885, he returned to Denmark, where he founded a Folk high school in Støvring (now Rebild municipality in Region Nordjylland). In 1892, Ostergaard returned to the United States. 2005 Danish Local Elections
Local elections were held in Denmark on 15 November 2005. 2522 municipal council members were elected in Denmark's 98 municipalities and 205 regional council members in the five regions. Danish People's Party
The Danish People's Party (DPP; , DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The party saw a period of significant growth after its founding and lent its support to the – Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat.
