Frei Family
The Frei family of Chile is formed by the descendants of Switzerland, Swiss Eduardo Frei Schlinz and Chilean Victoria Montalva Martínez. It became politically influential during the 20th century, and has played and still plays a significant role in Chilean politics. Frei (island)
Frei is an island in Kristiansund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island lies south of the town of Kristiansund in the Nordmøre region of the county. The main villages on the island include Rensvik in the north, Kvalvåg in the east, and Nedre Frei in the south. Geography The highest point on the island is the mountain Freikollen. The island is covered with mountains, pine forests, marshes, and sparse other vegetation. The Freifjorden lies to the east and south, the Kvernesfjorden and Bremsnesfjorden lie to the west, and the Bolgsvaet bay and Omsundet strait lie to the north. Frei Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Kristiansund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Nedre Frei on the southern shore of the island of Frei. It is the church for the Frei parish which is part of the Ytre Nordmøre prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The yellow, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1897 by the architect Karl Norum. The church seats about 420 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1432, but the church was not new that year. The first church in Frei was a wooden stave church that was located about southeast of the present church site. It may have been founded during the 14th century. Nedre Frei
Nedre Frei is a village in Kristiansund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal County, Norway. The village is located along the Freifjorden on the southern part of the island of Frei. The village sits about south of the village of Rensvik, about southwest of the village of Kvalvåg, and about southeast of the village of Storbakken. Nedre Frei is the site of Frei Church, the main church for the island. The northern end of the Freifjord Tunnel is located just west of the village, connecting the island to the nearby island of Bergsøya and then on to the mainland via a bridge. Frei Municipality
Frei is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2008 when it was incorporated into Kristiansund Municipality. It was located between the Kvernesfjorden and Freifjorden, primarily including the Frei (island), island of Frei and the smaller surrounding islands. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Rensvik, the largest village on the island, located on the northern end of the island.
