Frei Family
The Frei family of Chile is formed by the descendants of Switzerland, Swiss Eduardo Frei Schlinz and Chilean Victoria Montalva Martínez. It became politically influential during the 20th century, and has played and still plays a significant role in Chilean politics. Chile, officially the Republic of Chile, is a country in western South America. Eduardo Frei Montalva
Eduardo Nicanor Frei Montalva (; 16 January 1911 – 22 January 1982) was a Chileans, Chilean political leader. In his long political career, he was Minister of Public Works, president of his Christian Democratic Party (Chile), Christian Democratic Party, senator, President of the Senate, and the 27th president of Chile from 1964 to 1970. His eldest son, Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, also became president of Chile (1994–2000). Carmen Frei
Carmen Frei Ruiz–Tagle (born 22 June 1938) is a Chilean politician and education, teacher. She served as Senate of Chile, Senator from 1990 to 2006. Frei was born in Santiago de Chile, Santiago, the eldest child to Eduardo Frei Montalva and María Ruiz-Tagle. She studied at the ''Colegio Universitario Inglés''; and later graduated as a teacher (specializing in infants) from the Universidad de Chile. She became a councilwoman for Santiago in 1970, and was elected Senator for Antofagasta in 1990, being reelected in 1998. She lost the position in 2006. She was married to Eugenio Ortega and has three children. Eduardo Alfredo Juan Bernardo Frei Ruiz–Tagle (; born 24 June 1942) is a Chilean politician and civil engineering, civil engineer who served as president of Chile from 1994 to 2000. Marta Larraechea Bolívar (born August 30, 1944 in Constitución, Talca Province) is a social orientator, politician and wife of Chilean President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle. She was a council member of the Santiago municipality (2000–2004) and First Lady of Chile (1994–2000). She is the daughter of Vasco de Larraechea Herrera and Victoria Bolívar Le Fort. History Of Chile
The territory of Chile has been populated since at least 3000 BC. By the 16th century, Spanish invaders began to raid the region of present-day Chile, and the territory was a colony from 1540 to 1818, when it gained Chilean War of Independence, independence from Spain.
