Frederick Alexander Cuthbert
Frederick Alexander Cuthbert (May 7, 1902 – September 14, 1978) was an American landscape architect who worked primarily in the U.S. state of Oregon. Biography He was born in Essex, Ontario, Canada where his father was a Baptist minister. In 1908, the family moved to Muskegon, Michigan. Cuthbert graduated from the University of Michigan in 1928 with a Masters of Landscape Design and began teaching at Oregon Agricultural College. He was hired by the University of Oregon as the landscape architect in 1932, and when the landscape program was transferred to the University of Oregon, Cuthbert founded the Department of Landscape Architecture in 1934. Later he became Dean of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts. Cuthbert's designs influenced many landscapes at the University of Oregon. Two of Cuthbert's landscapes, the Memorial Quadrangle and the Women's Memorial Quadrangle, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Cuthbert directed the construction of ... A landscape architect is a person who is educated in the field of landscape architecture. The practice of landscape architecture includes: site analysis, site inventory, site planning, land planning, planting design, grading, storm water management, sustainable design, construction specification, and ensuring that all plans meet the current building codes and local and federal ordinances. The practice of landscape architecture dates to some of the earliest of human cultures and just as much as the practice of medicine has been inimical to the species and ubiquitous worldwide for several millennia. However, this article examines the modern profession and educational discipline of those practicing the design of landscape architecture. Oregon State Capitol
The Oregon State Capitol is the building housing the state legislature and the offices of the governor, secretary of state, and treasurer of the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located in the state capitol, Salem. Constructed from 1936 to 1938 and expanded in 1977, the current building is the third to house the Oregon state government in Salem. The first two capitols in Salem were destroyed by fire, one in 1855 and the other in 1935. New York architects Trowbridge & Livingston conceived the current structure's Art Deco stripped classical design in association with Francis Keally. Much of the interior and exterior is made of marble. The Oregon State Capitol was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 29, 1988. Alton Baker Park
Alton Baker Park is located in Eugene, Oregon, United States, near Autzen Stadium. It was named for Alton F. Baker Sr., the eleventh owner (60 years after it was founded) of Eugene's ''The Guard'' newspaper (later '' The Register-Guard''). It features duck ponds, bicycle trails, a dog park and a disc golf course, and directly touches the Ferry Street Bridge across the Willamette River. Cuthbert Amphitheater
The Hult Center for the Performing Arts is a performing arts venue in Eugene, Oregon. The Hult Center is located downtown on Willamette Street between 6th & 7th Avenues, adjacent to the Graduate Eugene (previously Hilton Eugene) and Conference Center. Built using funds that were approved by voters in 1978, the Hult Center and the Hilton were completed in 1982 as part of the same urban renewal project.
