Frederic Deschênes
Frederic "Freddie" Deschênes (born January 12, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Juniors Deschênes started his career in the QMJHL as a member of the Granby Bisons, who were later known as the Prédateurs. As a member of the Prédateurs during the 1995-96 season, Deschênes won several awards from the CHL, including being named CHL's First Team All-Star. Deschênes also had the lowest goals against average in the QMJHL, which earned him the Jacques Plante Trophy. During the Memorial Cup tournament in 1996, Deschênes was the only goaltender to ever post two shutouts in the same tournament Professional Despite being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1994, Deschênes did not see any ice time with the club. Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as goalie or netminder) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their own team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. Ryan Nie
Ryan Nie (born April 15, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Career Nie started his professional career with the Kalamazoo Wings of the UHL, signing with the team prior to the 2006-07 season as a backup to former longtime Rochester Americans goaltender Tom Askey. While Askey saw the majority of the team's starts, it was Nie who led the team with a league-record 2.02 GAA and a .929 save percentage. Nie ended up taking over the starting duties during the postseason, leading the K-Wings to the UHL Finals and posting a 2.73 goals-against average over 19 games. ECHL

American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league in North America that serves as the primary developmental league of the National Hockey League (NHL). Memorial Cup
The Memorial Cup () is the national championship of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), a consortium of three Junior ice hockey, major junior ice hockey leagues operating in Canada and parts of the United States. Jacques Plante Trophy
The Jacques Plante Trophy is awarded annually to the best ice hockey goaltender in Switzerland as voted on by a jury consisting of the captains and the coaches of the teams in the Nationalliga A. Goals Against Average
Goals against average (GAA), also known as average goals against (AGA), is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiplying that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification has been used by the National Hockey League (NHL) since 1965 and by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 1990. Granby Prédateurs
The Granby Bisons were a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Granby, Quebec, and played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team was founded in 1981 after they moved from Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, where they had previously been known as the Sorel Éperviers. The Bisons played at Arena Leonard Grondin in Granby.
