''Freddie'' is the fourth studio album by American rapper Freddie Gibbs. It was released on June 22, 2018, through ESGN and Empire Distribution. The album features guest appearances from Gibbs' daughter Irie Jane Gibbs, alongside 03 Greedo and Cassie Jo Craig. It also includes production from Gibbs himself, credited as Freddie Kane, alongside Kenny Beats, Jones, A. Lau, RichGains and Tony Seltzer, among others. It succeeds the release of Gibbs' third studio album, '' You Only Live 2wice'' (2017). Background Hours before the album's release, Freddie Gibbs released an infomercial-style promo as a teaser for the album. Freddie Gibbs
Fredrick Jamel Tipton (born June 14, 1982), better known by his stage name Freddie Gibbs, is an American rapper and songwriter. He signed with Interscope Records in 2006 and recorded his debut album for the label; however, its release was cancelled and he was dropped from the label due to executive shakeups. Gibbs later signed with Jeezy, Young Jeezy's CTE World in 2011 and released a number of mixtapes through the label, including the acclaimed ''Baby Face Killa'' (2012). After leaving CTE in early 2013, Gibbs formed the record label ESGN to release his ESGN, debut studio album of the same name in June of that year. His second and third albums, ''Shadow of a Doubt (album), Shadow of a Doubt'' (2015) and ''You Only Live 2wice'' (2017), were both met with positive critical and lukewarm commercial reception—the latter contained no guest appearances. Teddy Pendergrass
Theodore DeReese Pendergrass (March 26, 1950 – January 13, 2010) was an American Soul music, soul and R&B singer and songwriter. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pendergrass lived most of his life in the Philadelphia area, and initially rose to musical fame as the lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. After leaving the group in 1976, Pendergrass launched a successful solo career under the Philadelphia International Records, Philadelphia International label, releasing five consecutive platinum albums (a record at the time for an African-American R&B artist). In March 1982, a car crash left Pendergrass paralyzed from the chest down. Pendergrass continued his successful solo career until announcing his retirement in 2007.
