Franklin Road Academy (FRA) is a private co-educational Christian school for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 located in Oak Hill, Tennessee. The school was founded in 1971 and originally affiliated with the First Christian Church before it became a separate incorporated organization in 1982. FRA has been described as a segregation academy, like other schools established after a court ordered Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, Nashville public schools to expand desegregation busing. As of 2019, its head of school is Sean Casey and its head of upper school is Jay Salato. In 2016, FRA's enrollment was 795 students with ethnic and racial minority students comprising 18 percent of the student body. As of 2021, the school's enrollment had increased to 925 students. The Battle of Nashville was a two-day battle in the Franklin-Nashville Campaign that represented the end of large-scale fighting west of the coastal states in the American Civil War. Global Online Academy
Global Online Academy (GOA) is a nonprofit organization which provides online classes, workshops, and other educational resources for students and teachers. Accredited courses for middle and high school students are offered through GOA by a consortium of about 120 member schools, all independent. Structure GOA courses are taught online by teachers at Academy member schools. These teachers create the coursework and schedule for each course, but the student experience is largely asynchronous. David Dark
David Dark is an American writer, in the area of Christianity and philosophy. Early life and education Dark was born in 1969. He earned a BA from Middle Tennessee State University. He received his PhD from Vanderbilt University, in 2011. Career Dark began his career teaching high school English. As of 2024, Dark was listed among the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Belmont University, where his title was Associate Professor of Religion and the Arts. He also teaches at the Charles Bass Correctional Facility and the Tennessee Prison for Women. Dennis Harrison
Dennis Harrison Jr. (born July 31, 1956) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end for 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played in Super Bowl XV for the Philadelphia Eagles and was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 1982 season. In 1983, he led the Philadelphia Eagles in sacks with 13.5 on the season. Harrison starred at defensive tackle playing college football for the Vanderbilt Commodores, where he was voted All-SEC in 1978 by United Press International. As a freshman, he was named the defensive player of the game in the 1974 Peach Bowl against Texas Tech. Harrison was the first black assistant football coach at Franklin Road Academy. He left in 1997 for a coaching position at Vanderbilt University.
