Frankie Pace
Frankie Pace is an American stand-up comedian and actor. Pace began his career in a Long Island comedy club called "The White House Inn" working alongside Eddie Murphy, Rob Bartlett, Jackie Martling, Bob Nelson, Bob Woods, Richie Minnervini, Rosie O'Donnell, Jim Myers and Don McHenry. After a few years he went to New York City where Rick Newman saw him and passed him as a regular at Catch a Rising Star. Pace performed on the April 14, 1984 episode of ''Saturday Night Live'' which featured George McGovern as the host. Producer Cynthia Friedman had Pace write and host his own television show for '' Night Flight'' which appeared on the USA Network called "Rick Shaw's Takeout Theater". Catch a Rising Star is a chain of comedy clubs, founded in New York City in December 1972 and owned by Rick Newman. It has since spread to other areas, such as Las Vegas and New Jersey. Currently owned by Suzy Yengo Esq. The original club in New York City was notable for its role in starting the careers of many famous singers and comedians, many of whom enjoyed later success in television, theater and film. Freddie Roman
Freddie Roman (born Fred Kirschenbaum; May 28, 1937 – November 26, 2022) was an American stand-up comedian, best known for his frequent appearances at "Borscht Belt" hotels. Early life Freddie Roman grew up in Jamaica, New York. His father was a shoe salesman. His uncle and grandfather owned the Crystal Spring Hotel in the Catskills. There, Freddie was given a chance to emcee on summer nights at age 15. He became a teenage comic in small resorts, but later left show business to work for his father. He became the proprietor of a ladies' shoe store, but soon realized his true love was "not in shoe business, but show business". John Mulrooney is an American comedian, radio and TV show host, actor and writer. Mulrooney was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He began his career on the NYC comedy scene at Rick Newman's Catch a Rising Star in 1979. Mulrooney transitioned into television in the early eighties on a show called ''Comedy Tonight.'' Carolines on Broadway is a venue for stand-up comedy situated at 750 Seventh Avenue, on Broadway between 49th and 50th Streets, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. History Caroline Hirsch opened Carolines as a cabaret in the Chelsea neighborhood in 1981 with two friends. Hirsch advocated to make it a comedy club and booked Jay Leno as its first performer.
