Frank Cody
Francis R. Cody (June 13, 1948 – July 19, 2023) was an American record producer, A&R and radio executive. Described by the ''R&R Magazine'' and ''The New York Times'' as ''"Smooth Jazz's Leading Alchemist"'' and ''"The Father of Smooth Jazz"'', Background Cody is widely known for the development of Los Angeles-based pioneer Smooth Jazz radio station KTWV (94.7 MHz) "The WAVE". At various times, Cody served as an executive at NBC, ABC and was a co-founder/CEO of research/consulting firm Broadcast Architecture, later owned by Clear Channel. Kirk Whalum
Kirk Whalum (born July 11, 1958) is an American R&B and smooth jazz saxophonist and songwriter. Whalum has recorded a series of commercially and critically acclaimed solo studio albums. Along with several film soundtracks, with music ranging from pop to R&B to smooth jazz. While he's been bestowed with one win out of 12 Grammy nominations. Whalum is a member, together with trumpeter Rick Braun and guitarist Norman Brown, of jazz group BWB. He's also worked with artists such as Whitney Houston, Bob James, Jonathan Butler and Quincy Jones. Patti Austin (born August 10, 1950) is an American Grammy Award-winning R&B, pop, and jazz singer and songwriter best known for " Baby, Come to Me", her 1982 duet with James Ingram, which topped the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 after its re-release that same year. Jonathan Kenneth Butler (born 10 October 1961) is a South African singer-songwriter and guitarist. His music is often classified as R&B, jazz fusion or worship music. Biography Born and raised in Athlone, Cape Town, South Africa, during apartheid, Butler started singing and playing acoustic guitar as a child. Racial segregation and poverty during apartheid has been the subject of many of his records. His first single was the first by a black artist played by white radio stations in the racially segregated South Africa and earned a Sarie Award, South Africa's equivalent to the Grammy Awards. David Stephen Koz (born March 27, 1963) is an American saxophonist, composer, record producer, and radio personality based in Los Angeles, California. Early life Dave Koz was born in Encino, California, to Jewish parents: Norman, a dermatologist and Audrey, a pharmacist. Dave has a brother, Jeff, who is also a musician, and a sister, Roberta. Although he is Jewish, Koz plays both Christmas and occasional Hanukkah songs at his concerts.
