Francesco Naselli
Francesco Naselli was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. Biography He was born at Ferrara, and flourished about the year 1610. When young, he studied the works of the Carracci and Guercino, which he copied with surprising success, but afterwards devoted himself to the manner of his countryman Giuseppe Mazzola. He was employed for several of the churches in Ferrara. In the Cathedral there is an altarpiece by him, representing the '' Nativity''; in the church of Santa Maria de' Servi, a large picture of the ''Last Supper''; and in the church of Santa Francesca, the ''Assumption of the Virgin''. Baroque Art
The Baroque ( , , ) is a Western style of architecture, music, dance, painting, sculpture, poetry, and other arts that flourished from the early 17th century until the 1750s. It followed Renaissance art and Mannerism and preceded the Rococo (in the past often referred to as "late Baroque") and Neoclassical styles. Annibale Carracci ( , , ; November 3, 1560 – July 15, 1609) was an Italian painter and instructor, active in Bologna and later in Rome. Giuseppe Mazzola (December 5, 1748 – November 24, 1838) was an Italian painter born in Valduggia. Biography He studied briefly with Martin Knoller, then in the Academy of Parma, and later under Anton Raphael Mengs. He was the successor of Knoller as teacher of painting at the Brera Academy as well as conservator of the Pinacoteca. He lost his right hand at 40 years of age, and began painting with left hand. Ferrara Cathedral () is a Roman Catholic cathedral and minor basilica in Ferrara, Northern Italy. Dedicated to Saint George, the patron saint of the city, it is the seat of the Archbishop of Ferrara and the largest religious building in the city.
