This is a list of well-known Mormon dissidents or other members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) who have either been Excommunication#The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, excommunicated or have resigned from the church – as well as of individuals no longer self-identifying as LDS and those inactive individuals who are on record as not believing and/or not participating in the church. While the church doesn't regularly provide information about excommunication or resignation, those listed here have made such information public. Mormon Dissident
Various spectrums of beliefs or practice within Mormonism account for categories of Mormons possessing faith religious skepticism, or skepticism regarding various The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints#Practices, doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the mainstream LDS Church), or pertaining to issues of orthopraxy/heteropraxy, among those identifying as Mormon. People may also partake of Mormon culture to some degree as a result of having been raised in the LDS Church or else having converted and spent a large portion of their life as an active member of the LDS Church. Such "cultural" Mormons may or may not be actively involved with the church. In some cases they may not even be, or have ever been, official members of the church. David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990) is an American singer and songwriter. At the age of ten, he won the children's division of the Utah Talent Competition, leading to other television singing appearances. When he was twelve years old, he became the Junior Vocal Champion on the second season of ''Star Search'', known as "Star Search 2". In 2008, he finished second on the American Idol season 7, seventh season of ''American Idol''. ''The Advocate'' is an American LGBTQ magazine, printed bi-monthly and available by subscription. ''The Advocate'' brand also includes a website. Both magazine and website have an editorial focus on news, politics, opinion, and arts and entertainment of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender, and queer people (LGBTQ) people. The magazine, established in 1967, is the oldest and largest LGBTQ publication in the United States and the only surviving one of its kind that was founded before the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan, an uprising that was a major milestone in the LGBTQ rights movement. Milk (2008 American Film)
''Milk'' is a 2008 American biographical drama film based on the life of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California, as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Directed by Gus Van Sant and written by Dustin Lance Black, the film stars Sean Penn as Milk, alongside Emile Hirsch, Josh Brolin, Diego Luna, and James Franco. Dustin Lance Black (born June 10, 1974) is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and LGBT rights activist. The Guess Who
The Guess Who was a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1965. The band found their greatest success in the late 1960s and early 1970s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including " American Woman", " These Eyes", " No Time", “ Laughing”, and “ Share the Land”. Randy Bachman
Randolph Charles Bachman ( ; born September 27, 1943) is a Canadian guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was a founding member of the bands The Guess Who and Bachman–Turner Overdrive. He was the writer and singer of several hit rock songs, including, "Takin' Care of Business (song), Takin' Care of Business", and "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet (Bachman–Turner Overdrive song), You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet". Talmage Charles Robert "Tal" Bachman ( ; born August 13, 1968) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist. ''Being There'' is a 1979 American satirical comedy-drama film starring Peter Sellers, Shirley MacLaine, and Melvyn Douglas.
