Florida State Road 727
State Road 727 (SR 727) is a state highway in the Pensacola metropolitan area. It is one of four "misnumbered" state road 7xx highways in the Pensacola area. It is locally known as West Fairfield Drive and South Fairfield Drive. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with SR 292 (Gulf Beach Highway). Its northern terminus is an intersection with SR 295 (New Warrington Road) in West Pensacola. From the eastern terminus, Fairfield Drive continues eastward with the SR 295 designation until SR 289 (Ninth Avenue) in Pensacola. Until the mid-1990s, the route was designated State Road 289A. Like SR 295 and the nearby SR 296, SR 298, and SR 742, SR 727 is primarily a bypass route for Pensacola. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is a decentralized agency charged with the establishment, maintenance, and regulation of public transportation in the state of Florida. The department was formed in 1969. It absorbed the powers of the State Road Department (SRD). The current Secretary of Transportation is Jared W. Perdue. State Road 742 (SR 742) is a east–west state highway serving Pensacola, Florida. It is both a commuter road and a bypass route that also provides access (via Ninth Avenue/ SR 289 and Airport Boulevard/ SR 750) for motorists to Pensacola International Airport. Locally known as Burgess Road and Creighton Boulevard, SR 742 stays within a mile south of Interstate 10 (I-10 or SR 8) from the state road's western terminus at U.S. Route 29 (US 29 or SR 95) near Ensley to SR 742's eastern terminus at US 90 in Pensacola. U.S. Route 90 (US 90) in the state of Florida is the northernmost east–west United States Numbered Highway in the state. US 90 passes through the county seats of all 15 counties on its course in Florida, and it is also the road upon which many of the county courthouses are located. It is never more than from Interstate 10 (I-10) throughout the state. It runs as a two-lane highway through most of the sparsely populated inland areas of the Florida Panhandle, widening to four lanes through and near several towns. SR 30 (FL)
State Road 30 (SR 30) is the mostly hidden Florida Department of Transportation designation for most of US 98 from the Florida-Alabama state line to east of Perry, Florida. In a 14-mile-long stretch west of Panama City, US 98 and SR 30 are separated by less than one mile (1.6 km), with SR 30 on Front Beach Road along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico in Hollywood Beach, Laguna Beach, and Panama City Beach, and US 98 inland (as unsigned State Road 30A) along Panama City Beach Parkway bypassing the beach communities. In 2009, the Florida DOT began signing Front Beach Road as SR 30, and removed US 98 Alt signs. Escambia Bay
Escambia Bay is a bay located in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, in the far western Florida Panhandle. The city of Pensacola is located on the western side, and the town of Milton is located on the northeastern end of the two-pronged bay. Both places are the county seats of the respective counties. Unusually, Escambia Bay is connected to open waters via Pensacola Bay to its southeast. It is fed primarily by the Escambia River.
