Flip Da Scrip
''Da King & I'' was an American hip-hop duo consisting of Izzy Ice (born Isidore Francois on April 17, 1972) and DJ Majesty (born Roderick Wiggins). History The group signed with Rowdy Records and released their debut single, "Flip da Scrip" on November 24, 1992. Their debut album '' Contemporary Jeep Music'' was released on July 13, 1993. It contained the singles "Flip Da Scrip" and "Tears." The album earned many positive reviews but was not a commercial success. The duo disbanded shortly after the release of the album. In the late 1990s DJ Majesty launched a career as an R&B producer. Elusion
Elusion was a female contemporary R&B, R&B group that consisted of two separate sets of identical twin sisters, Tamica and Tanya Johnson, and Michelle and Marie Harris. They only released one album as a group, ''Think About It'' in 1998. Michelle and Marie were born in San Diego, California while Tamica and Tanya are from Selma, Alabama. They teamed up to form the group, Elusion. Their debut album included their mildly received single, "Reality". The song has since achieved cult status. The album is notable for also including production by Missy Elliott before she became famous, on the track titled "Good and Plenty". Tanya and Tamica formed a group called Nubreed. ''Juice'' is a 1992 American crime thriller film directed by Ernest R. Dickerson, and written by Dickerson and Gerard Brown. It stars Omar Epps, Tupac Shakur, Jermaine Hopkins and Khalil Kain. The film touches on the lives of four black youths growing up in Harlem, following their day-to-day activities, their struggles with police harassment, rival neighborhood gangs and their families. The film is the writing and directing debut of Dickerson and features Shakur in his acting debut. The film was shot in New York City, mainly in the Harlem area, in 1991. Plot Roland Bishop, Quincy "Q" Powell, Raheem Porter, and Eric "Steel" Thurman are four teenage African-American friends growing up together in Harlem. Daydreamin' (Before Dark Album)
''Daydreamin is the only album released by R&B group, Before Dark. It was released on July 11, 2000 through RCA Records, about a year after it was originally set to be released. The group's first two singles, "Come Correct" and "Baby" were released in 1998 and 1999 respectively, but neither was met with much success and RCA decided to delay the album. Early in 2000 the group's third and most successful single "Monica" was released and peaked at 77 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Three months after the release of "Monica", ''Daydreamin was finally released. Perspective Records is an American record label, launched in 1991 by the producing team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, through a joint venture with A&M Records—which Jam & Lewis had had a prosperous working relationship with throughout the 1980s, with several of its major acts including Janet Jackson, The Human League, and label founder Herb Alpert. Acts on Perspective's roster included Bobby Ross Avila, Smooth, Mint Condition, Lo-Key, Solo, Sounds of Blackness, Young Zee, and Ann Nesby. From 1993 to 1996, A&M Records released most of its own urban acts through Perspective. Rapper Tech N9ne was one of the signees for the label, however he was released from the label due to creative differences. East Coast Hip Hop
East Coast hip hop is a regional subgenre of hip hop music that originated in New York City during the 1970s. Hip hop is recognized to have originated and evolved first in the Bronx, New York City. In contrast to other styles, East Coast hip hop music has prioritized complex lyrics for attentive listening rather than beats for dancing. The term "East Coast hip hop" more specifically denotes hip hop originating from the East Coast of the Northeastern United States; Southeastern states such as Georgia instead fall under the umbrella of Southern hip hop rather than "East Coast hip hop".
