Perspective Records
Perspective Records is an American record label, launched in 1991 by the producing team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, through a joint venture with A&M Records—which Jam & Lewis had had a prosperous working relationship with throughout the 1980s, with several of its major acts including Janet Jackson, The Human League, and label founder Herb Alpert. Acts on Perspective's roster included The Avila Brothers, Bobby Ross Avila, Smooth (singer), Smooth, Mint Condition, Lo-Key, Solo (American band), Solo, Sounds of Blackness, Young Zee, and Ann Nesby. From 1993 to 1996, A&M Records released most of its own Urban contemporary, urban acts through Perspective. Rapper Tech N9ne was one of the signees for the label, however he was released from the label due to creative differences. In 1997, Jam and Lewis resigned as the label's CEOs, but remained consultants. A&M Records
A&M Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group and functions as a branch of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, Interscope-Geffen-A&M. Established in 1962 by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, the label initially operated independently. It rapidly gained recognition in the music industry, becoming a major-independent label until its acquisition by PolyGram in 1989. After this acquisition, A&M continued to operate as a self-managed frontline label within the PolyGram framework. In 1998, PolyGram was acquired by Seagram and subsequently integrated into its Universal Music Group. Solo is an American R&B musical group from New York, New York. The original members were Robert Anderson, Darnell Chavis, Eunique Mack and Dan Stokes. The group recorded their eponymous debut album in Minneapolis, and released it in 1995. Released on Perspective Records, the album featured production primarily by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. ''Meant to Be Mint'' is the debut studio album of R&B band Mint Condition. The album was released on June 11, 1991, on Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis' A&M imprint Perspective Records. ''Meant to Be Mint'' reached to no. 13 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Overview Released during the height of the new jack swing era, Mint Condition's debut was more in tune with the sounds of the time. The album was also produced by the Time drummer Jellybean Johnson. Stokley Williams
Stokley Williams (born July 15, 1967), also known simply as Stokley, is an American musician from St. Paul, Minnesota, best known as the lead singer and studio drummer of the R&B band Mint Condition. Career In 2011, Williams was featured on Kelly Price's song "Not My Daddy" from her album '' Kelly'' which earned him his first Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance. Aaron Dontez Yates (born November 8, 1971), better known by his stage name Tech N9ne (pronounced "tech nine"), is an American rapper and singer.
