Feminist Art Base
The Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art is located on the fourth floor of the Brooklyn Museum, New York City, United States. Since 2007 it has been the home of Judy Chicago's 1979 installation, ''The Dinner Party''. The Center's namesake and founder, Elizabeth A. Sackler, is a philanthropist, art collector, and member of the Sackler family. History The Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art opened on March 23, 2007, at the Brooklyn Museum as the first public space of its kind in the country. The center, located on the museum's fourth floor, aims to create a compelling and interactive environment to raise awareness and educate about feminism's impact on culture. Karen Heagle
Karen Heagle (born 1974) is an American artist, known for autobiographical and art historical subject matter. Her work comments on contemporary culture through a queer perspective with a focus on feminist agendas. Life and education Heagle was born in Tomah, Wisconsin and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. She received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin–Stout, and an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute. She also attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Sandy Lerner
Sandy Lerner (born 1955) is an American businesswoman and philanthropist. She co-founded Cisco Systems, and used the money from its sale to pursue interests in animal welfare and women's writing. One of her main projects, Chawton House, is in England, but most of her work remains in the United States. Sandy currently resides in Virginia where she owns Ayrshire Farm. Wilhelmina Cole Holladay
Wilhelmina Cole Holladay (née Cole; October 10, 1922 – March 6, 2021) was an American art collector and patron. She was the co-founder of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2006. Early life Holladay, known as "Billie", was born in Elmira, New York, on October 10, 1922. Her father, Chauncey Cole, worked as a businessman; her mother, Claire Elisabeth née Strong, was a housewife. She was close to her maternal grandmother, whom she credits with inculcating a perception of beauty. Holladay graduated with a degree in art history from Elmira College in 1944. She went on to study art history at Cornell University, before undertaking further studies at the University of Paris from 1953 to 1954. Sandra Day O'Connor (March 26, 1930 – December 1, 2023) was an American attorney, politician, and jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1981 to 2006.
