Fatherfucker
''Fatherfucker'' is the third studio album by Canadian singer Peaches, released on September 23, 2003, by XL Recordings. Cover versions of Electric Six's "Gay Bar" and Berlin's " Sex (I'm a ...)" are included as bonus tracks. Writing and development Peaches penned and programmed all the music for ''Fatherfucker'' herself. She wrote " Kick It" specifically for Iggy Pop, and the two teamed up in Miami in March 2003 to record it. Peaches told ''Rolling Stone'', "The song is more about rock 'n' roll than sex." Composition Musically, ''Fatherfucker'' is more rock-oriented than '' The Teaches of Peaches''. "I Don't Give A..." samples the Joan Jett song " Bad Reputation" as Peaches yells, "I don't give a fuck!" and "I don't give a shit!" during the song. Promotion To promote ''Fatherfucker'', Peaches toured as the opening act on Marilyn Manson's 2003 European tour. Peaches also toured as part of the 2004 State of Exit festival in Novi Sad, Serbia. Gay Bar (song)
"Gay Bar" is a song by American rock band Electric Six. Written by band member Tyler Spencer, under the pseudonym Dick Valentine, it was released on June 2, 2003, as the second single from their debut studio album, ''Fire'' (2003). While both the song and music video received significant airplay, lyrics mentioning war were edited due to their possibly offensive nature, since the song made its air debut at the start of the Iraq War. Background and writing According to Spencer/Valentine, the idea for the song came up from incorrectly hearing the lyrics of DEVO's "Girl U Want" as "it's just a girl, it's just a girl at a gay bar" while the song was playing in a very loud nightclub. (The actual lyric is "She's just the girl, she's just the girl, the girl you want".) Censorship In the censored version of the song, the words "nuclear" and "war" (in the line "let's start a war, start a nuclear war") are cut out and a whiplash sound is used instead. The Teaches Of Peaches
''The Teaches of Peaches'' is the second studio album by Canadian recording artist Merrill Nisker, and her first under the stage name Peaches. It was released on September 5, 2000, by Kitty-Yo. Her roommate Feist contributed vocals for the album. In 2002, XL Recordings re-released the album and as well put out an "Expanded Edition" featuring a bonus disc. Writing and development After creating a six-track " Lovertits" EP, Peaches moved to Berlin, Germany. While visiting her old friend Jason Beck, who was enjoying modest European success as Chilly Gonzales in Berlin, Peaches landed a one-night gig. On the merits of that show alone, Berlin's Kitty-Yo label signed her on the spot. The label offered her the chance to record ''The Teaches of Peaches'' back home in Toronto. Composition Musically, ''The Teaches of Peaches'', like many other electroclash albums, draws from 1980s new wave music. Young People Fucking
''Young People Fucking'' (distributed as ''YPF'' in US and UK markets) is a 2008 Canadian sex comedy film directed by Martin Gero, who co-wrote it with Aaron Abrams. The film's story is told in a linear fashion, alternating through a series of single-location vignettes connected by theme but with characters representing different archetypes. In each vignette, the characters try to have an evening of uncomplicated sex but are unable to separate sex from love. Gero and Abrams began the development of the film in 2004 and wrote the screenplay for six months in 2005. Filming was done in Toronto over 19 days. The film, which contains scenes of simulated sex but no pornographic material, was at the centre of the Bill C-10 controversy that brought considerable publicity to the low-budget production, allowing it to have a relatively wide release in Canada for an independent film. The film debuted at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film received mixed reviews fro ...
