Fath Union Sport (basketball)
Fath Union Sport () commonly called FUS or FUS Rabat, is a Moroccan basketball club based in Rabat. The team currently plays in the Division Excellence. The team is the basketball section of the Fath Union Sport, multi-sports club with the same name. FUS is the most successful club in Moroccan history, having won a record eighteen Division Excellence titles and nine Moroccan Throne Cup (basketball), Moroccan Throne Cups. FUS made their debut in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in 2024 BAL season, 2024. Home games are played in the Salle Abderrahmane Bouânane, where there is capacity for 1,500 people. Division Excellence
The Division Excellence (DEX-H) is the top professional basketball league in Morocco. Founded in 1934, the league currently consists of 12 teams. The league is administered by the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation (FRMBB). The current defending champions are FUS RABAT, who defeated AS Salé in the 2023/2024 Botola Finals. 2024 BAL Kalahari Conference
The 2024 BAL Kalahari Conference is the inaugural season of the Kalahari Conference, one of the three conferences of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The composition of the conference and the schedule were announced on 15 February 2024. The conference games began on 9 March and will end on 17 March 2024. FUS Rabat were the inaugural Kalahari Conference champions, after finishing ahead of Petro de Luanda and the Cape Town Tigers. Dynamo had withdrawn after the first game day. Basketball Teams In Morocco
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court), while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. 2025 BAL Season Group Phase
The 2025 BAL season group phase begins on 4 April and will end on 25 May 2024. The 12 teams of the group phase are allocated into three conferences. The BAL announced the official schedule on 28 February 2025. It is the first time that the any BAL game is hosted in Morocco, and the first time that Kigali hosted a group phase, as the previous games they were hosted were playoffs and finals games. 2025 BAL Season
The 2025 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 5, will be the 5th season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season will begin on 5 April and end on 14 June 2025 with the final. The playoffs and finals will be held in Pretoria, South Africa, for the first time. Petro de Luanda were the defending champions, having won the previous season, but lost in the final to Al Ahli Tripoli, who became the first Libyan team to win the BAL championship. As winners, Al Ahli Tripoli earned the right to play in the 2025 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Abdelhakim Zouita
Abdelhakim Zouita (born 12 August 1986) is a Moroccan professional basketball player who currently plays for FUS Rabat in the Division Excellence, the top professional basketball league in Morocco. Professional career Zouita began his career in 2002 with the basketball section of Kénitra AC, and stayed there for four years. In 2008, he joined AS Salé. After one season with RS Berkane, he joined AS Salé again in 2013, staying for seven season and winning five Division Excellence titles with the team. In 2020, Zouita joined FUS Rabat, and won the 2023 national championship and was also named the league's most valuable player. Al Ahly is an Egyptian basketball club of Al Ahly SC, located in Cairo, Cairo Governorate, that plays in the Egypt Basketball Super League. 2023–24 FUS Rabat Basketball Season
FUS Rabat plays the 2023–24 season in the Division Excellence and the Basketball Africa League (BAL), as well as in the Throne Cup competition. They made their debut in the Road to BAL, having qualified as national champions. On 4 November, a place in the main tournament was guaranteed following a win over FAP in the semi-finals. FUS Rabat won the Kalahari Conference and clinched the number one seed for the playoffs, however, they were eliminated by the eight-seeded Cape Town Tigers who won the quarterfinal after overtime. The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is a seasonal basketball league established in 2019 and first held in 2021. The league is a joint venture by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA, and is open to national champions of FIBA Africa member countries. The finals of each season are played in a single-game format, which is held at an arena that is chosen by the BAL organisation. The winner automatically qualifies for that year's FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
