Faerieworlds
Faerieworlds is an annual music and arts festival currently held annually in the U.S. state of Oregon. The festival's primary theme is the "realm of the faerie". As of 2015, the festival moved to Hornings Hideout near Portland after many recent festivals had been held at Mount Pisgah in the Howard Buford Park Recreation Area southeast of Eugene, Oregon. The 2015-2019 festivals were held at Horning's Hideout and 2020 saw a virtual event take place on the live stream platform PORTL. The 2021 has been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic, and plans for 2022 are in the works pending Oregon health restrictions being lifted. Events Faerieworlds was started by Emilio and Kelly Miller-Lopez of the musical group Woodland, and Robert Gould of the transmedia arts company Imaginosis. The festival features artists, authors, musicians and crafters whose work is connected to or inspired by folklore, specifically faerie lore. North Plains, Oregon
North Plains is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States, off U.S. 26 on the northwest outskirts of the Portland metropolitan area. The population was 3,441 at the 2020 census. History Pioneer settlers first arrived in the North Plains area in the 1840s. The area to be known as the city of North Plains was platted in September 1910 by the Ruth Trust Company of Portland. They purchased area tracts after James J. Hill planned to extend United Railways there. On June 25, 1963, North Plains voted 90 to 56 to incorporate as a city; at the time the population was around 500. Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club is just outside town. David Duval won the Nike Tour Championship there in 1993, and it was home to the U.S. Women's Open in 1997 and 2003. Gaia Consort
Gaia Consort is the original incarnation of Seattle-based folk rock music-group Bone Poets Orchestra.Gaia Consort http://www.gaiaconsort.com The group, popular in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, was founded as Gaia Consort by Chistopher Bingham and Sue Tinney in 1997. Their first performance was at Nudestock 97. Gaia Consort has worked with a large number of musicians from the Pacific NorthWest, including Heather Alexander and Dan Ochipinti of the Celtic folk-rock band Uffington Horse. Faun (band)
Faun is a German band that was formed in 1998 and plays pagan folk, darkwave, and medieval music. The originality of their music style is that it falls back to "old" instruments, and the singing is always the center of attention. The vocals are performed in a variety of languages, including German, English, Latin, Greek, and Scandinavian languages. Wendy Froud
Wendy Froud (''née'' Midener; born 1954) is an American doll-artist, sculptor, puppet-maker, and writer. She is best known for her work fabricating Yoda for the 1980 film '' Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back'', for which she has been called "the mother of Yoda", and creatures for the Jim Henson films ''The Dark Crystal'' and ''Labyrinth''. Early life Froud was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1954 to painter and 3D- collage artist Margaret "Peggy" (née Mackenzie; 1925–2016) and sculptor and artist Walter Midener (1912–1998). Her father was a German expatriate and her mother was from Detroit. Froud began making her own dolls from the age of five based on her favorite stories, including "lots of fauns, satyrs, centaurs and things with wings" from Greek mythology and fairy tales. Michael Hague
Michael Hague (born September 8, 1948) is an American illustrator, primarily of children's fantasy books. Biography Among the books he has illustrated classics such as ''The Wind in the Willows'', ''The Wizard of Oz'', ''The Hobbit'' and the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. He is known for the intricate and realistic detail he brings to his work, and the rich colors he chooses. Hague trained at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He lists his influences as the comics series ''Prince Valiant'' and the works of Disney, Japanese printmakers Hiroshige and Hokusai, and turn of the 20th century illustrators Arthur Rackham, W.
