Fabian Figueiredo
Fabian Filipe Figueiredo (born 14 January 1989) is a Portuguese politician and sociologist from the Left Bloc. He has served for a short period as a member of the Assembly of the Republic, from April to June 2021. He was elected in the 2024 legislative election as a deputy from Lisbon. Biography Fabian Figueiredo studied Sociology in the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. In 2017, he was the Left Bloc's candidate for Mayor of Loures, running, among others, against André Ventura, at the time the candidate from the PSD. He filled a crime complaint against Ventura after his controversial remarks about the Romani people. In 2021 he was once again a candidate for Mayor, failing once again to be elected. In 2019, he was the 7th candidate on the BE's list from Lisbon. He later became a member of the Assembly of the Republic, replacing Pedro Filipe Soares temporarily. Left Bloc (Portugal)
The Left Bloc ( , BE), colloquially shortened as O Bloco, is a political party in Portugal. A left-wing populist and democratic socialist party, it has been described as left-wing to far-left. It is currently led by Mariana Mortágua. History Formation and early history The Left Bloc was formed in 1999 by the merger of the Marxist People's Democratic Union, Trotskyist Revolutionary Socialist Party, and the democratic socialist Politics XXI. It has had full party status since its founding, yet the constituent groups have maintained their existence as individual political associations, retaining some levels of autonomy in a loose structure. Mariana Rodrigues Mortágua (born 24 June 1986) is a Portuguese economist and politician who is the National Coordinator of the Left Bloc, serving since 28 May 2023. In 2013, she was elected to the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal, replacing Ana Drago. Early life Mortágua is the daughter of Camilo Mortágua, an anti- Salazar activist, revolutionary, and founding member of LUAR. She is the twin sister of Joana Mortágua, also MP of the Left Bloc, and distant cousin of Socialist politician Maria João Rodrigues. Local elections in Portugal were held on 26 September 2021. The Social Democratic Party ( , PSD) is a liberal-conservative political party in Portugal that is currently the country's ruling party. Pedro Filipe Gomes Soares (born 15 February 1979) is a Portuguese mathematician and politician of the Left Bloc. Born in Castelo de Paiva, Aveiro District, he graduated in Applied Mathematics from the University of Porto, and has a master's degree in remote sensing. In 2001, aged 22, he ran for a city council seat, and four years later he was second on his party's electoral list in the district for the legislative elections.
