FIBA EuroBasket 1995
The 1995 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1995, was the 29th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe, which also served as Europe qualifier for the 1996 Summer Olympics, giving a berth to each of the top four teams in the final standings. It was held in Greece between 21 June and 2 July 1995. Fourteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The city of Athens hosted the tournament. Serbia and Montenegro (then under the name of FR Yugoslavia) won its first FIBA European title, by defeating Lithuania by the score of 96–90 in the final. Lithuania's Šarūnas Marčiulionis was voted the tournament's MVP. This edition of the FIBA EuroBasket tournament saw the successful return of the Lithuania national team to the competition, since its last triumph in 1939. Šarūnas Marčiulionis
Raimondas Šarūnas Marčiulionis (; born June 13, 1964) is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player. Widely considered one of the greatest international players, he was one of the first Europeans to become a regular in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Marčiulionis was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014 and became a member of the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2015. In the 1988 Summer Olympics, together with teammate Arvydas Sabonis, Marčiulionis led the senior USSR national team to the gold medal. With the senior Lithuanian national team, he won two Summer Olympics bronze medals, in 1992 and 1996. He was an All-Tournament Team member, the top scorer, and the MVP of the EuroBasket 1995, and he was also elected to the All-EuroBasket Team in 1987. Eastern European Time (EET) is one of the names of UTC+02:00 time zone, 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. The zone uses daylight saving time, so that it uses UTC+03:00 during the summer. Dejan Bodiroga
Dejan Bodiroga ( sr-Cyrl, Дејан Бодирога; born 2 March 1973) is a Serbian basketball executive and former professional player, who is currently the president of EuroLeague Basketball. In 1998 and 2002, he received the Golden Badge award for the best athlete of Yugoslavia, and the Yugoslav Olympic Committee also declared him the Sportsman of the Year. He was named to the FIBA All-Time EuroStars Team in 2007. In 2018, he was named one of the 101 Greats of European Basketball. Panagiotis "Notis" Giannakis (, ; born January 1, 1959), alternatively spelled Panayiotis Yiannakis or Yannakis, is a former Greek professional basketball player and coach. He is considered to be one of the greatest sportspeople of Greece. Konstantinos "Kostas" Patavoukas (alternate spelling: Constantinos "Costas") () (born February 3, 1966) is a Greek retired professional basketball player. Professional career Patavoukas started his playing career as a youth with Asteras Exarhion, and he later played professionally for the Greek Basket League club AEK Athens. With AEK Athens, Patavoukas was a 2 time Greek Cup finalist, in 1988 and 1992. He moved to the Greek club Panathinaikos, and with them he won the EuroLeague in 1996, in Paris, and 2 Greek League championships, in 1998 and 1999. Panagiotis Fasoulas
Panagiotis "Panos" Fasoulas (alternate spelling: Fassoulas; Greek: Παναγιώτης Φασούλας; born 12 May 1963, in Thessaloniki) is a Greek politician, and former professional basketball player. He was selected in the second round, with the 37th overall pick, by the Portland Trail Blazers, in the 1986 NBA draft. However, he never decided to play in the NBA. During his pro club career, Fasoulas won multiple team titles and individual awards. In 1997, as a member of the Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus, Fasoulas won the EuroLeague championship at the 1997 EuroLeague Final Four. He also won the European Triple Crown title that same year. Fanis Christodoulou
Theofanis "Fanis" Christodoulou (; born May 22, 1965) is a Greek former professional basketball player. He played mainly at the small forward position, but his complete all-around skills allowed him to play at all five basketball positions. During his playing career, many sports journalists called him "The European Charles Barkley". While his nickname among his teammates was "Bembis Agori" ("Baby Boy"). Efthimios "Efthimis" Rentzias (alternate spellings: Efthymios, Efthymis; Greek: Ευθύμιος "Ευθύμης" Ρεντζιάς; born January 11, 1976) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Riccardo Pittis (born 18 December 1968 in Milan, Italy) is a former Italian professional basketball player. At a height of tall, he played at the small forward position. Stefano Rusconi (born October 2, 1968) is an Italian former professional basketball player. At a height of tall, he played at the center position. Professional career Rusconi was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, in the 2nd round (52nd overall pick), of the 1990 NBA draft. Guy Goodes
Guy Goodes (; born 13 March 1971) is an Israeli professional basketball coach and former player. He was most recently the head coach of Hapoel Holon of the Israeli Premier League. Professional career Goodes played as a point guard from 1994 to 2004, primarily with Maccabi Tel Aviv (1990–97 and 1998–99). He was on the Israel basketball national team from 1995 to 1999. Nadav Henefeld (; born June 19, 1968) is an Israeli former professional basketball player. During his playing career, he was a 2.00 m (6'6 ") tall power forward. Early career Henefeld was born in Ramat Hasharon, Israel, and he initially played pro basketball in his home country, for two seasons (1987–88, and 1988–89).
