Football Club Spartak Poltava (); was a Ukrainian Soviet association football, football team based in Poltava, Ukraine. It was one of the best teams in Poltava during the 1940-1950. History In 1922 a sport organization Spartak was created. Next year a football team was organized. They began a rivalry with another city sport organization Sokil. Within a year Sokil was dissolved and its football club a four time city champion was dissolved also. Spartak reinforced with best city players easily won the 1924 and 1925 city championships. In early 1926 football club was transferred to District Council of Trade Unions and was renamed united team of Trade Unions. In 1936 club received its former name Spartak. A year later they finished third in city summer championship and won the fall championship of second teams in Class A. The 1946 Football Championship of Ukrainian SSR were part of the 1946 Soviet republican football competitions in the Soviet Ukraine as well as so called Soviet "Tretya Gruppa" (Group 3) which by some football enthusiasts consider a predecessor of the Soviet Second League. It was the first republican league competition in Ukraine following the World War II. Competitions were restructured and instead of tiered competitions, all tiers were combined into single tier divided by geographic groups. Except for Spartak Kyiv, the top 2 from each qualification group also qualified for the 1947 Vtoraya Gruppa, Zone Ukraine. Spartak () is an international fitness and sports society that unites some countries of the former Soviet Union. In the Soviet era, the Spartak sports society was supported by the Komsomol. Since 1991, Spartak has operated under the sponsorship of the food worker's union ("Pischevik"). It was founded in 1921 in Moscow as the "Moscow Sports Circle" (MSK) by footballer Nikolai Starostin and others. In 1926 it came under the sponsorship of the food worker's union ("Pischevik"). In 1934, it adopted the name of Spartak, after the ancient Thracian slave, rebel and athlete Spartacus and became the sports society for all unions. The Poltava Oblast Football Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in Poltava Oblast Ukraine. It was first played during the 1939. It is organized by Football Association of Poltava Oblast. Olympia Savyntsi is the current holder. They have won the cup eight times. History On 12 June 1939 first season of the cup competition began. Final was played fifteen days later in Kremenchuk. Dynamo Kremenchuk became the first winner. Dynamo player Sikharulidze became the first player to score a hat-trick in the final. Next year the more teams took part in the competition. In 1941 a week before the invasion of the Soviet Union by Nazi Germany three matches of the cup took place. Season was abandoned with no winner. Cup resumed in 1946 with summer and fall competitions.
