FC Samgurali Tskaltubo
FC Samgurali ''( Georgian'': საფეხბურთო კლუბი სამგურალი) is a Georgian association football club from Tskaltubo, which takes part in the Erovnuli Liga, the first tier of Georgian football. They have been runners-up of the Georgian Cup three times. History In Soviet and national leagues Formed in 1945 as ''FC Medic'', the football club from Tskaltubo had the most prolific years in the 1980s. Between 1983 and 1990 under the name ''Shadrevani 83'' they became champions of the Georgian Soviet league three times, once finished as runners-up and once won bronze medals. When Georgian Football Federation formed an independent championship in 1990, Samgurali spent eight out of the initial ten seasons in the top flight. In 1999/2000, they finished in the drop zone and left the league. In this period the team experienced the worst decade in their history as they ceased to exist for four years. Thiago Gomes (football Manager)
Thiago Gomes Pacheco (born 12 May 1984) is a Brazilian football coach, currently in charge of Georgian club Samgurali. Career Born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Gomes started his career with Internacional, being a manager of their youth categories and an assistant of the B-team for six years. In 2011, he moved to Atlético Paranaense and worked as a scout and assistant manager. In 2013, after a period in charge of São José-RS' under-20 squad, Gomes was named Osmar Loss' assistant at the under-20 team of Corinthians. He followed Loss to Bragantino in April 2015, but left the club after being sacked in July. Gomes subsequently returned to São José just days after leaving Bragantino, being now appointed first team head coach. However, he did not stay at the club after accepting an invitation from Paulo Roberto Falcão to work as his assistant at Sport Recife. Merab Megreladze
Merab Megreladze (26 January 1956 – 24 January 2012) was a Georgian football player. Megreladze belongs to a football dynasty which stretches from his grandfather up to his grandson. He is the two-time most prolific striker of the Georgian top league as well as its all-time record topscorer with 41 goals netted in a single season. Megreladze is regarded as a Georgian football legend. Career A product of Makharadze's youth sport school, Megreladze started taking first steps at his hometown team Mertskhali, representing it in the Soviet Second League at age 17. His professional career began at Guria in 1977. Two years later, Megreladze scored 31 goals in 46 games to become the league topscorer and greatly contributed to Guria's first ever promotion to the 2nd division. 1991 Umaglesi Liga
The 1991 Umaglesi Liga was the second season of top-tier football in Georgia. It began on 16 March and ended on 28 June 1991. In that season, Georgia was declared the independence from Soviet Union in April 1991, so the championship became national. The season was a transitional because from following season the schedule was changed to the autumn-spring schedule. Iberia Tbilisi were the defending champions.
