1991–92 Umaglesi Liga
The 1991–92 Umaglesi Liga was the third season of top-tier football in Georgia. It began on 15 August 1991 and ended on 20 June 1992. The season was a first under the autumn-spring schedule. Dinamo Tbilisi (changed the name from ''Iberia Tbilisi'' in mid-season) were the defending champions. Erovnuli Liga
The Erovnuli Liga ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა; ) is the top Division (sport), division of professional top tier Association football, football in Georgia (Country), Georgia. Since 1990, it has been organized by the Professional Football League of Georgia and Georgian Football Federation. From 1927 to 1989, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the Soviet Union. From 2017, the Erovnuli Liga switched to a spring-autumn system, with only 10 clubs in the top flight. FC Alazani Gurjaani
FC Alazani Gurjaani is a defunct Georgian association football club based in Gurjaani in Georgia, founded in 1964 during the Soviet Union. History After the independence, the club's biggest achievement was made in the 1992–93 season, when it took the 3rd place in the Umaglesi Liga. During that period the team was led by Otar Gabelia and the name of the club was changed in FC Erkvani Gurjaani. Then in 1993 the name was changed again in Alazani Gurjaani. In 2014/15 Alazani finished 2nd in Group East of the third league, one point short of the group leader. In 2020 the club participated in Regionuli Liga tournament. Stadium The team play in David Kipiani Stadium in Gurjaani. The field was named in honour of David Kipiani. Kakhaber Kacharava ( ka, კახა კაჭარავა; born 19 November 1966) is a Georgian football coach and a former player. Career Kakha Kacharava has had the record-breaking three spells as manager of Dinamo Tbilisi. He was the first coach appointed since Roman Pipia's arrival at the club in 2010. In January 2012, he was appointed as a U19 manager for one year. His team performed well enough to qualify for the elite round of 2013 European Championship, although Kacharava quit to join Zestaponi next January. His stint coincided with an overall decline that this club was experiencing after winning two consecutive Championship titles. FC Shevardeni-1906 Tbilisi was a Georgian football club based in Tbilisi. They most recently played in the Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football from 2023. They were one of the oldest Georgian association football clubs. History Shevardeni were founded in 1906 after a Czech public figure named Jaroslav Svatoš invited several athletics coaches to Georgia at the end of the 19th century and formed a sports society called ''Sokol'' (Czech word for Falcon that was later translated to Georgian Shevardeni). FC Mretebi Tbilisi was a Georgian football club based in Tbilisi. Mretebi were founded on 3 February 1988 by Vazha Chkaidze, a football coach and theatre director. p30. At that time, major football clubs in the Soviet Union were professional in practice, but were officially regarded as amateur. For example, Lokomotiv players were officially classed as railway workers. Mretebi were founded as an openly professional club, the first Soviet club to do so. Amid the collapse of the Soviet Union, Georgian football established an independent football league system in 1990. Mretebi reached the last sixteen of the Georgian Cup in 1990, and won the Second Division in 1991. Winning the Second Division meant a playoff for promotion to the Umaglesi Liga, the highest level of Georgian football. FC Kolkheti 1913, commonly referred to as Kolkheti Poti, is a Georgia (country), Georgian association football, football club based in Poti. The team competes in the Erovnuli Liga, the top division of Football in Georgia (country), Georgian football.
