ELAM (Cyprus)
The National Popular Front (also known as the National People's Front; el, Εθνικό Λαϊκό Μέτωπο (), ''Ethniko Laiko Metopo'' (ELAM)) is a Far-right politics, far-right, Ultranationalism, ultranationalist movement (and later, political party), founded in 2008 in the Cyprus, Republic of Cyprus. It describes its ideology as "popular and social nationalism". As of May 2011, it has been approved as a legal political party. 2013 Cypriot Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Cyprus on 17 February 2013. A runoff was held on 24 February 2013. Nicos Anastasiades of Democratic Rally won the election. The other candidates were Stavros Malas of the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL); Praxoula Antoniadou of the United Democrats; Lakis Ioannou with the support of LASOK; Loukas Stavrou; ELAM's Giorgos Charalambous, Giorgos Lillikas of Movement for Social Democracy (EDEK); and independents Andreas Efstratiou, Makaria-Andri Stylianou, Kostas Kyriacou(Outopos) and Solon Gregoriou. 2019 European Parliament Election In Cyprus
An election was held on 26 May 2019 to elect six representatives from Cyprus to the European Parliament. The Democratic Rally (DISY) has won every election to the European Parliament since Cyprus joined the European Union in 2004. According to final results, DISY again won the election with 29% and 2 seats. There were no changes in seat allocation, with AKEL also at 2 seats after securing 27% of the vote. DIKO and EDEK had 1 seat each, with 14% and 11% of the vote, respectively. In terms of percentage, this was EDEK's best European elections result since 2004 (although that year it did not win any seats). Some attributed this in part to tactical voting, with many fearing the far-right ELAM gaining a seat had it finished fourth. 2021 Cypriot Legislative Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Cyprus on 30 May 2021 to elect 56 of the 80 Members of the House of Representatives. Electoral system The 80 members of the House of Representatives are elected from six multi-member constituencies, with the number of seats allocated according to the population of each area. Of the 80, 56 are elected by Greek Cypriots and 24 by Turkish Cypriots. However, since 1964, the Turkish Cypriot seats are unfilled and the House of Representatives has de facto had 56 seats since its enlargement in the 1980s. Each constituency corresponds to the six districts of Cyprus. 2011 Cypriot Legislative Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Cyprus on 22 May 2011 to elect the 56 Members of the House of Representatives. They were won by the Democratic Rally, who increased their seats from 18 to 20. The governing Progressive Party of Working People also gained a seat, bringing them up to 19. The Democratic Party lost two of their 11 seats and the European Party lost one of their three seats.
