Extremaduran Army
The Extremaduran Army ( es, Ejército de Extremadura), was a military formation of the Spanish Republican Army during the last phase of the Spanish Civil War. It was part of the Central Region Army Group ''(GERC)''. The Republican forces deployed at the Extremaduran Front were under its jurisdiction. They guarded the westernmost end of the Republican territory, an area that saw long periods of inactivity between the major battles. History The Extremaduran Army was established in the fall 1937 as a detached formation of the Southern Army ''(Ejército del Sur)'' after its disbandment. It was initially led by Lt. Colonel Joaquín Pérez Salas as Commander in Chief, who would be soon replaced by Colonel Ricardo Burillo. The general headquarters were in the town of Almadén. Guadalmellato
The Guadalmellato is a 110.5 km long river in Andalusia, Spain. It is a right hand tributary to the Guadalquivir. The Guadalmellato River has two dams. Course The source of the Guadalmellato is at the Guadalmellato Reservoir where the waters of the Guadalbarbo, Cuzna and Varas meet; these are small rivers bringing waters from the Sierra Morena and subject to seasonal variations. The Guadalmellato flows roughly southwards for about 5 km into the San Rafael de Navallana Reservoir. Further downstream it meets the right bank of the Guadalquivir just east of Alcolea. Part of the waters of the Guadalmellato are diverted before it flows into the Guadalquivir by means of a canal that runs parallel to the river. 63rd Division (Spain)
The 63rd Division was one of the divisions of the People's Army of the Republic that were organized during the Spanish Civil War on the basis of the Mixed Brigades. Throughout the war it was deployed on the Cordoba front. History The unit was created at the end of the summer of 1937. It was made up of the 25th, 86th, and 114th brigades, with their command post in Villanueva de Córdoba. Command of the division fell to Aldo Morandi, with Fritz Schiller as Chief of Staff. At the end of the year it was incorporated into the VIII Army Corps. In February 1938, Morandi took command of the Extremadura Division, being replaced by José Frías González-Mouvelles. Except for a few sporadic actions, for most of the war the 63rd Division did not take part in significant military operations. In March 1939, after the Casado coup, Ildefonso Castro Ruiz assumed command of the unit. The unit was still on the Córdoba front when it found out about the end of the war. Command ; Commande ... Algodor River
The Algodor is a 102 km long river in Central Spain. It is a left hand tributary to the Tagus. Course Its source is at the Laguna del Navajo in the Montes de Toledo, within the Retuerta del Bullaque municipal limits, Castile-La Mancha. It flows roughly northwards across the Province of Toledo into the Tagus at Aceca, a place near Algodor, the village within the Aranjuez municipality limits that gives the river its name. The Algodor River has two dams, which form the 133 hm³ Embalse de Finisterre reservoir built in 1977, located between Tembleque, Mora, Villanueva de Bogas and Turleque, and the smaller 8 hm³ Embalse del Castro reservoir built in 1974 near Villamuelas. All the Algodor's tributaries are small rivulets except for the Bracea River on its left margin.
