Ewloe Green
Ewloe (; , ) is a village and electoral ward in the community (Wales), community of Hawarden in Flintshire, Wales. It is situated close to the Flintshire/Cheshire sector of the Wales-England border. Flintshire County Council is based at St David's Park in the village. The A55 road, A55 expressway passes through Ewloe and its most notable landmark is Ewloe Castle. The Ewloe Wards and electoral divisions of the United Kingdom, electoral ward had a population at the 2011 Census of 5,420. The urban area of the village is contiguous with Hawarden, Buckley, Flintshire, Buckley and Shotton, Flintshire, Shotton. The Office for National Statistics deems Ewloe to form part of the Buckley built-up area, which covers much of Deeside. Alyn And Deeside (National Assembly For Wales Constituency)
Alyn and Deeside () is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of nine constituencies in the North Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to nine constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. The constituency has been represented by Jack Sargeant since February 2018. Boundaries The constituency was created for the first election to the Assembly, in 1999, with the name and boundaries of the Alyn and Deeside Westminster constituency. Shotton, Flintshire
Shotton is a town and community in Flintshire, Wales, within the Deeside conurbation along the River Dee, joined with Connah's Quay, near the border with England. It is located 5 miles (8 km) west of Chester and can be reached by road from the A548. In the 2011 census, Shotton had a population of 6,663. Etymologies The town's name is first recorded in Old English as ''Cyllingas''. This name derives from the Welsh language word Celyn (meaning Holly) and has persisted in one form or another throughout the town's history. By 1822, Richard Willett recorded the name as ''Kyllins'', which he says contains "one of the parish's most notable ancient houses". Mold ( ) is a town and community in Flintshire, Wales, on the River Alyn. It is the historic county town and was the administrative seat of Flintshire County Council from 1996 to 2025, as it was of Clwyd from 1974 to 1996. County Hall () is a former municipal building on Raikes Lane in Mold, Flintshire. It was the headquarters of the historic Flintshire county council from 1967 to 1974, the headquarters of Clwyd County Council from 1974 to 1996 and the headquarters of the modern Flintshire County Council from 1996 to 2025. History Following the implementation of the Local Government Act 1888, which established county councils in every county, Flintshire County Council set up its base at the old County Hall in Chester Street in Mold. Additional facilities acquired included a local militia barracks (originally designed by Thomas Mainwaring Penson) which was converted for use as council offices in the late 1880s. Hawarden High School
Hawarden High School () is an English language medium secondary school in Hawarden, Flintshire, Wales. It is part of the Flintshire LEA. The school traces its history back to 1606 when a single-classroom grammar school was established with £300 left by a local resident named George Ledsham. The current building occupying this place was first built in 1898 by local architects Grayson & Ould and W&T Bailey, and was extended throughout its history. Located on the same site is a Grade II listed building, the School Library, the former Headmaster's House. In 1998, the school completed a £4m extension which provided a new school hall, a sports centre extension, expansion of the Technology department and a new drama studio, as well as numerous other improvements.
