Evolve (EP)
''Evolve'' is the second EP by American deathcore band Chelsea Grin, released on June 19, 2012 through Artery Recordings. It is the first release by the band with guitarist Jason Richardson taking up lead guitar since his departure from Born of Osiris and the last release to feature Andrew Carlston on drums. ''Evolve'' was mixed by Jason Suecof and was engineered by famed metal producer and Dååth guitarist, Eyal Levi. Style Musically, the album features slight progressive influence along with blending more melody when compared to their previous releases. Background Chelsea Grin first confirmed work for a new EP at the end of 2011. Soon after this announcement, founding lead guitarist Michael Stafford left the band and was replaced by Jason Richardson of Born of Osiris as a touring member, before Richardson left Born of Osiris while out on tour with the band; which in turn resulted in him joining Chelsea Grin full-time. Chelsea Grin is an American deathcore band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Formed in 2007, the group have released two EPs and seven full-length albums. Since 2018, no founding members remain in the band. Despite not being in the original line-up, bassist David Flinn has been the only constant member on all the group's studio albums. Chelsea Grin was originally founded under the name ''Ahaziah''. The lineup for Ahaziah included vocalist Alex Koehler, guitarist Chris Kilbourn, bassist Austin Marticorena and lead guitarist Michael Stafford. Marticorena introduced Andrew Carlston to Chelsea Grin and assisted in rewriting their songs as well as the creation of new material as they changed the name to Chelsea Grin soon after. This writing process led to the tracks on their first release, a self-titled EP that was streamed and released online through iTunes, then released on CD worldwide on July 27, 2008. Deathcore is an extreme metal subgenre that combines death metal with metalcore. The genre consists of death metal guitar riffs, blast beats, and metalcore Breakdown (music)#Heavy metal and punk rock, breakdowns. While there are some precursors to the concept of death metal fused with metalcore and hardcore elements seen in the 1990s, deathcore itself emerged in the early 2000s and gained prominence beginning in the mid-2000s. Jason Reeves Richardson (born July 30, 1991) is an American guitarist. He is known for his work as a guitarist in both Born of Osiris and Chelsea Grin. He currently works as both a solo artist and as an official member of All That Remains. Career On February 5, 2009, age 17, Richardson replaced Chris Storey of All Shall Perish as a touring member. In late 2011, Richardson parted ways with Born of Osiris. Then, in early 2012, he joined Chelsea Grin. On September 12, 2015, Richardson announced his departure from the band to focus on a solo career. In 2016, Richardson released his debut solo album entitled ''I.'' produced by Taylor Larson. Noisecreep is a hard rock and heavy metal music news and media website based in the United States. The site was created by AOL Music in March 2009. Noisecreep was the fourth genre-specific music website owned by AOL after the rock music website Spinner, country music website TheBoot and hip hop music website TheBoomBox. Noisecreep is also part of AOL's MediaGlow publishing division which was created in January 2009. Dååth is an American death metal band from Atlanta. Their music incorporates styles such as death metal, orchestral music, and progressive metal. History Dååth was started by Eyal Levi and Mike Kameron, who had been playing in bands since they were in middle school. The two friends attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Boston but eventually left school to concentrate full-time on making money.
