EvaMarie Lindahl
EvaMarie Lindahl (born 1 December 1976) is a Swedish artist, who works mainly in pencil drawing. She was born in Viken, Sweden, and studied at Gotland School of Art, Funen Art Academy, Academy of Fine Arts, Umeå, Umeå Art Academy, and completed a Master of Fine Arts at Malmö Art Academy in 2008. She lives in Malmö. In 2014 she collaborated with Danish artist Ditte Ejlerskov on an installation artwork "About: The Blank Pages" to highlight the "missing" books on women artists in the Taschen Basic Art series, which includes 97 books of artists' biographies, but only 5 female artists among 92 men. The installation includes the 97 Taschen books, and 100 similar "books" on women artists, with covers created by Ejlerskov and Lindahl but containing only blank pages, from Artemisia Gentileschi and Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun to Berthe Morisot, Louise Bourgeois and Bridget Riley. Artemisia Gentileschi
Artemisia Lomi Gentileschi ( ; ; 8 July 1593) was an Italian Baroque painter. Gentileschi is considered among the most accomplished 17th century, 17th-century artists, initially working in the style of Caravaggio. She was producing professional work by the age of 15. In an era when women had few opportunities to pursue artistic training or work as professional artists, Gentileschi was the first woman to become a member of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, Accademia di Arte del Disegno in Florence and she had an international clientele. Many of Gentileschi's paintings feature women from myths, allegories, and the Bible, including victims, suicides, and warriors. Bridget Louise Riley (born 24 April 1931) is an English painter known for her op art paintings. She lives and works in London, Cornwall and the Vaucluse in France. Early life and education Riley was born on 24 April 1931 in West Norwood, Norwood, London. Her father, John Fisher Riley, originally from Yorkshire, had been an Army officer. Louise Joséphine Bourgeois (; 25 December 191131 May 2010) was a French-American artist. Although she is best known for her large-scale sculpture and installation art, Bourgeois was also a prolific painter and printmaker. Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot (; 14 January 1841 – 2 March 1895) was a French painter, printmaker and a member of the circle of painters in Paris who became known as the Impressionists. In 1864, Morisot exhibited for the first time in the highly esteemed Salon de Paris. Taschen Basic Art
Taschen Basic Art is a best selling art collection books, published by Taschen, starting in 1985. Each book looks at a different artist, with a biography, and illustrations of their work. The books are published as affordable hardcover books of 21 x 26 cm. , 78 titles had been published. Similar series entitled Taschen Basic Architecture, Taschen Basic Cinema and Taschen Basic Photographies were started after the success of the Basic Art series. In the spring of 2014, Taschen's Basic Art series received major criticism in Swedish media for its focus on male artists. The series then consisted of 95 books, only five of which were of female artists. Viken, Sweden
Viken is situated in Höganäs Municipality in Skåne County, Sweden with 4,227 inhabitants in 2010. It has a surface area of 224 hectares. 223 of these are in the Höganäs municipality. Well known for its harbour, the village has a long history of seafaring and fishing. It is also known for the distinctive, mostly yellow, seaside cabins lining its vast public beach. Viken is known to have been the home of billionaire Carl-Eric Björkegren, who disappeared without a trace in 1994. Theories vary in terms of what happened.
