It was self-released on 29 February 2024 and Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where it was disqualified from the final due to Klein reportedly making "unlawful threats" to a member of the contest's production crew, prompting a police investigation that eventually led to Klein's charges being dropped. The song has been described as an ode to Europe and a "letter" to his late father, who taught him that the world has "no borders". The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, with "" performed by Joost Klein. The Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS internally selected the Dutch entry for the 2024 contest. Klein's appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 11 December 2023, while the song, "", was presented to the public on 29 February 2024. The Netherlands was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 9 May 2024. Joost Klein (; born 10 November 1997), also known mononymously as Joost, is a Dutch musician, rapper, singer and former YouTuber. Mainly a hip hop artist, his songs and performances often include influences of electronic music, such as drum and bass, hardstyle and gabber. Teun de Kruif (born 3 September 1993), known professionally as Tantu Beats, is a Dutch record producer, DJ and lyricist. He is mainly known for his work with Joost Klein. In addition to his work with other artists, he also produces and sells individual beats himself. AVROTROS () is a Dutch radio and television broadcaster that is part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. It was founded in 2014 as the result of a merger between the Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep (AVRO) and the Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting (TROS). The name AVROTROS has been used for jointly produced programmes since 1 January 2014. Since 7 September 2014, all existing AVRO and TROS programmes have also been broadcast under the name AVROTROS. The VPRO (stylized vpro; originally an acronym for , ) is a Dutch public broadcaster, which forms a part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. Founded in 1926 as a liberal Protestant broadcasting organization, it gradually became more social liberal than Protestant in the 1950s and 1960s, and the original meaning of the acronym was eventually dropped. Vengaboys () are a Dutch Eurodance music group based in Rotterdam. The group was the creation of Dutch producers Wessel van Diepen and Dennis van den Driesschen (known as Danski and Delmundo).
