Etten-Leur
Etten-Leur () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the Dutch province North Brabant. Its name is a combination of the two villages from which the municipality originally arose: Etten and Leur. History The villages were always part of one municipality, originally called "Etten c.a." (cum annexis), this later to change to "Etten en Leur". The current name was adopted in 1968. By that time, the villages had grown into one. Both villages, created in the Middle Ages, were relatively prosperous during the period of the Dutch Republic, the exception being the period of the Eighty Years' War in which the area was a major battleground. This prosperity was caused by the fact that Etten was a centre for the production of peat, and Leur was a local trading port, as it had a harbour. Etten-Leur is a railway station located in Etten-Leur, Netherlands. The station was opened on 11 December 1854 and is located on the Roosendaal–Breda railway. Jan Jacob Rochussen
Jan Jacob Rochussen (23 October 1797 – 21 January 1871) was a Dutch politician. He served as finance minister from 1840 to 1843 and Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies from 1845 to 1851. He served as Chairman of the Council of Ministers from 18 March 1858 to 23 February 1860. Life and politics Rochussen was born in the town of Etten, North Brabant, on 23 October 1797 to Jan Rochussen, a provincial government member, and his wife. In 1815 Rochussen served in a volunteer corps against Napoleon's armies. Rochussen found employment as a tax collector in Schiedam, South Holland beginning in 1814. Over the next twelve years he served as a tax collector in 's-Hertogenbosch, Rotterdam, and later Amsterdam. Arnold Damen
Arnold Damen, S.J. (1815–1890) was a Dutch Jesuit missionary who is noted for bringing Jesuit education to Chicago. Biography Damen was born in Leur, North Brabant (The Netherlands) on March 20, 1815, and joined the Jesuit missions in North America under Pierre-Jean De Smet. He trained at St. Stanislaus Novitiate in Florissant, Missouri, and was ordained in 1844. His first job was teaching at St. Louis University, but in 1847 he was appointed pastor of the college church of St. Francis Xavier in St. Louis. In 1857 he was sent to establish the first Jesuit presence in Chicago, where he founded St. Ignatius College Prep, as well as the institution that would become Loyola University. Stef Broks (born 1st of May 1981, Etten-Leur, The Netherlands) is a Dutch musician, teacher and entrepreneur, best known for his work with Dutch progressive metal band Textures (2001-present). He is known for playing rock and metal with a fusion touch and an extensive use of polyrhythms with his -left-footed- double bass pedals. 104th Infantry Division (United States)
The 104th Infantry Division was an infantry division (military), division of the United States Army. Today, it is known as the 104th Training Division (Leader Training) and based at Fort Lewis (Washington), Fort Lewis, Washington, as a training unit of the United States Army Reserve. Activated in 1921 and deployed during World War II, the division saw almost 200 days of fighting in northwestern Europe as it fought through France, Netherlands, Netherlands, Belgium, and western Germany, fighting back several fierce German counterattacks as it advanced through the theater throughout late 1944 and 1945. Danny van Trijp (born 24 December 1996) is a Dutch darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won two titles on the 2022 PDC Challenge Tour. Career Van Trijp attended European Q-School in 2019, but never got farther than the last 16, missing out on a PDC Tour Card. Textures (band)
Textures are a Dutch progressive metalcore band, formed in 2001. Textures' lineup revolved around founding members Jochem Jacobs, Stef Broks, Bart Hennephof, and bassist Remko Tielemans who joined in 2007. Since 2010, vocalist Daniël de Jongh and keyboardist Uri Dijk have been with the band. Textures first came to the spotlight with their debut album ''Polars'' with Listenable Records which won an Essent Award for "Most Promising Act" in 2004.
