Ethnikos Assia F.C.
Ethnikos Assia Football Club () is a Cypriot football team currently playing in the Cypriot Second Division. The team was established in Assia, Famagusta, but since the Turkish invasion of 1974, Ethnikos became a refugee team. The club is now based in the capital Nicosia and play their home games at the Makario. The club has played three times in the first division, the last time was during the 2001–02 season. Makario Stadium
Makario Stadium (), is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. It was the largest and main sports venue of the capital up to the construction of the GSP stadium in 1999. At present it is mostly used for football matches and is the home ground of Olympiakos Nicosia, Digenis Morphou, and Ethnikos Assia. The stadium holds 15,590 seated spectators. The playing field is surrounded by a running track and can be adapted to hold most track and field events. Apart from corporate boxes and the press centre, there are no coverings for spectators. It is built in the Nicosia suburb of Makedonitissa, close to the grounds of the Cyprus State Fair, with which it shares a large car park. Over the years it has served as the home ground for Nicosia teams such as AC Omonia, APOEL and Olympiakos. The Cypriot national team has also played home matches there in the past. The Cypriot Second Division () is the second highest association football, football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administered by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top three teams being Promotion and relegation, promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last three teams being Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. Assia, Cyprus
Assia (, ; ) is a village in the Famagusta District of Cyprus, located 6 km northwest of Vatili. It is under the ''de facto'' control of Northern Cyprus. History Assia is located in the center of the Mesaoria valley. The village was recorded as early as the early 13th century in papal documents. Before 1974, the population of Assia was approximately 2,700. The village consisted of two parishes, St. John's and St. George's. The village had five churches: St. George, St. John Prodromos, St. Theodore, St. Spyridon and Virgin Mary. St. Spyridon was born in Assia and the church was built by Michael Kassialos, a folk artist from Assia. Assia was also well known for the craftsmanship of the embroidery made there. Famagusta District, or simply Famagusta, is one of the six districts of Cyprus. While the entire district covers an area of , only about is under the de jure control of the Republic of Cyprus. Most of the district including the capital and largest city of Famagusta is under Turkish control since the 1974 invasion. The Turkish invasion of Cyprus began on 20 July 1974 and progressed in two phases over the following month. Taking place upon a background of Cypriot intercommunal violence, intercommunal violence between Greek Cypriots, Greek and Turkish Cypriots, and in response to a 1974 Cypriot coup d'état, Greek junta-sponsored Cypriot coup d'état five days earlier, it led to the Turkish Military occupation, capture and occupation of the northern part of the island. Nicosia, also known as Lefkosia and Lefkoşa, is the capital and largest city of Cyprus. It is the southeasternmost of all EU member states' capital cities. Cypriot Cup For Lower Divisions
The Cypriot Cup for lower divisions, formally known as the Cypriot Coca-Cola Cup of Third Division and STOK Elite Division for sponsorship purposes, is a domestic cup for the teams which participate in the Cyprus, Cypriot Cypriot Third Division, Third Division and the STOK Elite Division (formerly known as Cypriot Fourth Division, Fourth Division). Format It was created in the 2008–09 season by Cyprus Football Association. Participation in this cup is optional, so the number of participating clubs differs each year. The competition is a knockout tournament. The matches in the first two rounds are single-legged and the matches in quarterfinals and semifinals are two-legged. 2010–11 Cypriot Cup For Lower Divisions
The 2010–11 Cypriot Cup for lower divisions was the 3rd edition of the Cypriot Cup for lower divisions. A total of 24 clubs entered the competition. It began on 27 October 2010 with the first round and concluded on 30 March 2011 with the final which was held at GSP Stadium. Ethnikos Assia won their 1st cup trophy after beating ENAD Polis Chrysochous 1–0 in the final. Format Only teams from the Cypriot Third Division and Cypriot Fourth Division could participate. Participation was not compulsory. 24 of 28 participated that season. The competition consisted of five rounds.
