Ethan Strand
Ethan Strand (born October 20, 2002) is an American distance runner who competes for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Early life and education Strand attended Vestavia Hills High School, located near Birmingham, Alabama. His father Scott is a graduate of Auburn University and the former coach of the men's track team at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, while his mother Lori is a former cross country coach at Samford University. Strand is a two-time winner of the Alabama Gatorade Cross Country Player of the Year award. Collegiate career In June 2024, Strand reached the 1500 meter final of the United States Olympic Trials. He was one of five collegians to make the race. On November 23, 2024, Strand finished eighth in the 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisconsin, in a time of 28:53.0. Vestavia Hills High School
Vestavia Hills High School (VHHS), founded in 1970, is a public high school in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Vestavia Hills City Schools. A number of teachers in the school are Nationally Board Certified, and two are nationally recognized James Madison Scholars. History The land was acquired by Louis Pizitz, a Polish immigrant who settled in Birmingham in 1889. Pizitz lived here with his wife, Minnie and their son, Hortense. After their death, their son Hortense sold the land to the City of Vestavia Hills in the 1960s. The school was built in the 1970s, in the context of the establishment of segregation academies in the 1970s, which enabled white children to segregate themselves from black children, who remained in public schools. 2025 Prefontaine Classic
The 2025 Prefontaine Classic was the 50th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was held on 5 July May at Hayward Field, it was the 9th leg of the 2025 Diamond League – the highest-level international track and field circuit. Diamond+ results Starting in 2025 a new discipline of events was added called Diamond+, these 4 events per meet awarded athletes with increased prize money whilst keeping the standard points format to qualify for the Diamond league finals. First place earns 8 points, with each step down in place earning one less point than the previous, until no points are awarded in 9th place or lower. 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships
The 2025 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships was the 60th NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships and the 43rd NCAA Division I Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The field consisted of 17 different men's and women's indoor track and field events with a total of 650 participants contested from March 14 to March 15, 2024. Streaming and TV coverage ESPN streamed the event on ESPN2, and ESPNU. On March 17, a replay of the championships was broadcast at 9:00 PM Eastern Time on ESPNU. On Athletics Club
On Athletics Club (OAC) is a training group of professional Distance running, distance runners sponsored by On (company), On. The team is coached by Dathan Ritzenhein and was founded in August 2020 with eight original members. OAC trains primarily out of Boulder, Colorado. On also sponsors sister clubs "OAC Europe" coached by Thomas Dreissigacker and "OAC Oceania" coached by Craig Mottram. In July 2023, Kelsey Quinn was announced as assistant coach for the team. Non-championship accomplishments Colorado's First Sub-Four Minute Mile On August 3, 2020, Joe Klecker and Olli Hoare became the first people to ever break four-minute mile, 4 minutes in the mile on Colorado soil. Robert Farken
Robert Farken (born 20 September 1997) is a German middle distance runner. In 2025, he became German national record holder over 1500 metres and the mile run, and is a multiple-time German champion. Career From Leipzig, and a high school graduate at the sports high school there. He had a promising start to his career before an achilles tendon injury slowed his progress. In 2016 Farken was runner-up over 800m at the German youth indoor championships. In the same year he was the fastest U20 runner in Europe over 800m. Farken ran this best time at the evening sports festival in Pfungstadt, but this came after the selection period for participation in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz had finished so he was not able to compete. In 2017 Farken became German indoor champion over 800 meters in his first start in the men's class in Leipzig.
