Esports At The 2022 Asian Games
Esports at the 2022 Asian Games were held at Hangzhou Esports Center in Hangzhou, China from 24 September to 2 October 2023. This was the first edition of the Asian Games that featured esports as a medal event, after debuting as a demonstration sport in 2018 Asian Games, 2018, and the second major multi-sport event to do so after the SEA Games since 2019 SEA Games, 2019. AliSports, the sports arm of Chinese Multinational corporation, multinational technology company, Alibaba Group, partnered with the Olympic Council of Asia to bring esports to the Asian Games. A qualification tournament called ''Asian Electronic Sports Federation, AESF Road to Asian Games 2022'' was played earlier for all titles featured. Wang Chunyu ( zh, s=王淳煜, p=Wáng Chúnyù; born April 7, 1997), better known as Ame, is a Chinese professional ''Dota 2'' player for LGD Gaming. Career Ame started his Dota 2 career by joining the youth squad of CDEC Gaming, the following year he moved to LGD Gaming. Esports were featured at the 2018 Asian Games as a demonstration sport, meaning medals won in this sport would not be counted in the official overall medal tally. It was held from 26 August to 1 September 2018. Seo Jin-hyeok (; born November 2, 2000), better known as Kanavi, is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for JD Gaming of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL). Throughout his career, he has won four LPL titles and one Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) title. He also represented the South Korean national team at the 2022 Asian Games, earning a gold medal. Kanavi's career began in 2019 when he joined LCK team Griffin as a substitute. He joined LPL team JD Gaming on a loan from Griffin later that year.
