Ernest Bohr
Ernest David Bohr (7 March 1924 – 26 February 2018) was a Danish lawyer and field hockey player who played for Denmark in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. Biography Bohr was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark on 7 March 1924, the son of football player and physicist Niels Bohr and Margrethe Nørlund. He graduated from Sortedam High School and later became a barrister. He was named after the New Zealand physicist Ernest Rutherford, who was a friend of Niels, and after Niels' maternal grandfather. He was the brother of physicist Aage Bohr, and the nephew of mathematician Harald Bohr, who played for the Danish silver medal-winning team in football at the 1908 Summer Olympics, which were also held in London. He played Hockey for "Orient" from Kongens Lyngby. After the German occupation of Denmark, the Bohr family elected to remain in the country despite the fact that the Nazis considered some family members as Jews because Ernest's grandmother Ellen Adler was Jewish. Frederiksberg
Frederiksberg () is a part of the Capital Region of Denmark. It is an independent municipality, Frederiksberg Municipality, separate from Copenhagen Municipality, but both are a part of the region of Copenhagen. It occupies an area of less than 9 km2 and had a population of 103,192 in 2015. It is the most densely populated municipality in denmark. Frederiksberg is an enclave surrounded by Copenhagen Municipality. The Polytechnic Stadium
The Polytechnic Stadium is a sports venue on Hartington Road, Chiswick, London. It is the centre piece of the Quintin Hogg Memorial Grounds (now known as University of Westminster Sports Grounds). History In 1888 Quintin Hogg built a boathouse near Chiswick Bridge, which is used at the finish of the university boat race each year. When Hogg died in 1903, an appeal to raise funds for a memorial in his memory took place. The Quintin and Alice Hogg Memorial was built and a piece of land in Chiswick was purchased. In 1936 plans were drawn up for a sports stadium to be built at the site. The design was undertaken by Joseph Addison, Head of Architecture at Regent Street Polytechnic. The stadium was home to the Polytechnic Harriers athletics club, along with several local clubs and schools. It was also used for international and national competitions as soon as it was built. Bohr Family
The Bohr family is a Danish family of scientists, scholars and amateur sportsmen. The most famous members are Niels Bohr, physicist and winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922, Aage Bohr, son of Niels, also a physicist and in 1975 also received the Nobel Prize and Harald Bohr, mathematician and brother of Niels. Christian Bohr, a physiologist and professor of physiology, was born to Henrik Georg Christian Bohr. Christian Bohr married Ellen Adler Bohr, the daughter of David Baruch Adler.
