Eric Johnson (journalist)
Eric Johnson is an American television weeknight news anchor for KOMO 4 in Seattle, Washington. Early life Johnson was born to Jack and Rachell and raised in the Spokane Valley. He attended East Valley High School and majored in broadcasting at the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications at Washington State University. He also played baseball at WSU as a pitcher. Career Johnson began his broadcasting career in 1984 at KTVB 7 in Boise, Idaho, serving as the station's weekend sports anchor. Two years later, he was promoted to the role of sports director at rival station KBCI-TV (now KBOI 2). From 1987 to 1989, he served in the same capacity at Spokane's KREM 2, then he moved to sister station KGW 8 in Portland, Oregon, where he remained until 1993. In 1993, Johnson initially started out as the KOMO 4 station's weekend sports anchor, replacing longtime KOMO sportscaster Rick Meeder and fill-in sports anchor Bob Rondeau. Bob Rondeau
Bob Rondeau is a retired American sports announcer. He is known for a 37-year career associated with University of Washington athletics. Early life Rondeau grew up in Colorado. He majored in journalism at Colorado, graduating in 1972. Career Rondeau began his career as a news reporter and anchor in Cortez, Denver, and then Phoenix. Those experiences left him disillusioned with the news business. His first experience as a sports broadcaster was in the summer of 1977 when he called several races at Turf Paradise, a horse racing track in Phoenix. Rondeau joined KOMO radio in Seattle as sports director in 1977, after passing on an offer from local competitor KIRO which was looking for a news reporter. Kathi Goertzen
Kathi Goertzen (April 30, 1958 – August 13, 2012) was a longtime co-news anchor of Seattle ABC affiliate KOMO-TV along with Dan Lewis (the 6PM edition) and also the 5PM edition with Eric Johnson. She joined KOMO in June 1980, after the eruption of Mount St. Helens and did many special newscasts thereafter, including the fall of the Berlin Wall (she was the first local American TV news reporter to do so). Before KOMO Kathi Goertzen was born in Seattle on April 30, 1958. She graduated from Queen Anne High School and had initially set out to be a veterinarian. However, she changed her career goals after witnessing a dog necropsy, and then aspired to become a journalist, enrolling at Washington State University. Dan Lewis (newsreader)
Dan Lewis (born December 19, 1949) is a former long-time co-anchor and reporter for KOMO-TV in Seattle, Washington. He came to KOMO-TV in 1987 after working at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. Before that, he had worked at WISN-TV, WITI-TV, WLKY-TV, KTBS-TV and KWKH. His career began at WBIG (AM) after graduating from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Alongside his co-anchor and reporter Kathi Goertzen, weather forecaster Steve Pool and sports reporter Eric Johnson, they were the third longest-running tenure out of any anchor team in the United States west of the Mississippi River. Until his retirement in 2014, Lewis served as co-anchor for the weekday editions of KOMO 4 News at 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. with Mary Nam. KREM (channel 2) is a television station in Spokane, Washington, United States, affiliated with CBS. It is owned by Tegna Inc. alongside CW affiliate KSKN (channel 22). The two stations share studios on South Regal Street in the Southgate neighborhood of Spokane; KREM's transmitter is on Krell Hill to the southeast, covering eastern Washington state and northern Idaho. KREM-TV began broadcasting on October 31, 1954, as Spokane's third station. KTVB (channel 7) is a television station in Boise, Idaho, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Tegna Inc. The station's studios are located on West Fairview Avenue (off I-184) in Boise, and its transmitter is located on Deer Point in unincorporated Boise County. It is rebroadcast by KTFT-LD (channel 7) in Twin Falls, Idaho, Twin Falls, which airs KTVB programming with local advertising for the Magic Valley area from its transmitter on Flat Top Butte near Jerome, Idaho, and maintains a local sales office in Twin Falls.
