Eric Adiele, known professionally as Sporting Life, is an American record producer, rapper, songwriter and visual artist. He is best known for being a member of New York City hip hop group Ratking with American rappers Wiki and Hak. Adiele has since gone on to release several solo albums and extended plays (EPs) under R&S Records. Eric Copeland (born 1978 in Brunswick, Maine, United States) is an American experimental musician based in New York City. He is a core member of Black Dice and forms half of the duo Terrestrial Tones with Animal Collective's Avey Tare. Copeland uses a variety of instruments and effects but largely focuses his work on vocal sounds, primitive sampling and looping techniques, and delay manipulation. Copeland released his first solo effort, ''Hermaphrodite'', in 2007 on the Paw Tracks label. According to Stereogum, the EP covers the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship in reverse chronological order. Writing and recording In an interview with ''The Fader'', Kelela discussed the inspiration behind each of the songs on ''Hallucinogen''. "A Message" and "Hallucinogen" were recorded at the same session with Arca before ''Cut 4 Me'' was finished. She wanted to wait on sharing the Arca stuff because she "wanted to go all the way with her." "A Message" reflects on a relationship that, at that time, had just ended.
