''Eremita'' is the fourth studio album by Norwegian black metal musician Ihsahn. The album features guest appearances by several notable musicians, including Devin Townsend and Jeff Loomis of Nevermore. The album is Ihsahn's first solo outing since the conclusion of the conceptual trilogy encompassing his first three albums, '' The Adversary'', ''angL'', and ''After''. Background ''Eremita'' featured a guest appearance by Devin Townsend. Previously, Ihsahn had guested on Townsend's album, ''Deconstruction''. Vegard Sverre Tveitan (born 10 October 1975), better known by his stage name Ihsahn ( ), is a Norwegian musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and composer who is best known for his work with the black metal band Emperor (Norwegian band), Emperor. Tveitan is also a founding member of Thou Shalt Suffer, where he played guitar and keyboard in addition to vocal duties, and Peccatum, a project in collaboration with his wife and fellow musician Starofash, Heidi Solberg Tveitan, also known as Starofash. Jeff Loomis
Jeff Loomis (born September 14, 1971) is an American musician, best known for his role as lead guitarist in the progressive metal band Nevermore during its existence from 1991 to 2011, as well as brief tenures in its precursor, Sanctuary (band), Sanctuary. In 2014, he joined Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, and in 2021 he joined Alcatrazz, Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz as well. He left Arch Enemy in 2023. As a solo artist he has released two albums and one EP.
