Erding Ring Closure
The Erding ring closure (german: Erdinger Ringschluss) is a project to build a long, double-track railway that is planned to run from Freising via Munich Airport to Erding. Route Line 5559 would run from Freising station as a four-track line together with line 5500 (the Munich–Regensburg railway) to Neufahrn North junction (''Abzweig Neufahrn-Nord''). It would run over the "Neufahrn counter curve" (''Neufahrner Gegenkurve'') to reach line 5557 (the Neufahrn Link) at Neufahrn East junction (''Abzweig Neufahrn-Ost'') and connect with line 5556 ( Munich East–Munich Airport railway) at Airport West junction (''Abzweig Flughafen-West''). From there the existing double-track line would be shared through the airport. The route from Freising to Munich Airport is long. The Mühldorf–Freilassing railway is a major railway in Bavaria. Markt Schwaben–Erding Railway
The Markt Schwaben–Erding railway is a 13.63 km-long branch line in Upper Bavaria in Germany and now part of line S 2 of the Munich S-Bahn. Erding made an unsuccessful bid for the Munich–Mühldorf railway to run through the town; instead it was built a few kilometres south of the town. Other suggested links (to Freising, Passau or Rosenheim) were rejected by the railway board. On 8 March 1869, it was announced that the town would be connected to the railway network by a secondary railway (then called a ''Vizinalbahn'' in Bavaria) from Schwaben (now Markt Schwaben) to Erding. The contract for the construction of this railway was signed on 9 May 1870 by the town of Erding and the Head Office of the Royal Transport Institution (german: Generaldirektion der königlichen Verkehrsanstalten).
