Coal In Turkey
Coal supplies over a quarter of Turkey's primary energy. The heavily subsidised coal industry generates over a third of the country's electricity and emits a third of Turkey's greenhouse gases. Most coal mined in Turkey is lignite (brown coal), which is more polluting than other types of coal. Turkey's energy policy encourages mining lignite for coal-fired power stations in order to reduce gas imports; and coal supplies over 40% of domestic energy production. Mining peaked in 2018, at over 100 million tonnes, and declined considerably in 2019. Most coal is imported, as in contrast to local lignite production, Turkey imports almost all of the bituminous coal it uses. Coal consumption also peaked in 2018 (but may peak again). The largest coalfield in Turkey is Elbistan. Coal-fired power stations are a major contributor to air pollution, and cause severe, widespread impacts on public health across the nation and region. It is estimated that in 2019, air pollution from coa ...

Greenhouse Gas Emissions By Turkey
Coal, cars and lorries vent more than a third of Turkey's five hundred million tonnes of annual greenhouse gas emissions—mostly carbon dioxide—and are part of the cause of climate change in Turkey. The nation's coal-fired power stations emit the most carbon dioxide, and other significant sources are road vehicles running on petrol or diesel. After coal and oil the third most polluting fuel is fossil gas; which is burnt in Turkey's gas-fired power stations, homes and workplaces. Much methane is belched by livestock; cows alone produce half of the greenhouse gas from agriculture in Turkey. Economists say that major reasons for Turkey's greenhouse gas emissions are subsidies for coal-fired power stations, and the lack of a price on carbon pollution. Even without a carbon price renewable electricity in Turkey is cheaper than electricity generated by coal and gas, so the Chamber of Engineers says that without subsidies coal-fired power stations would be gradually shutdow ...

List Of Steel Producers
This is a list of the largest steel-producing companies in the world mostly based on the list by the World Steel Association. This list ranks steelmakers by volume of steel production in millions of tonnes and includes all steelmakers with production over 10 million in 2021. The World Steel Association compiles a list from its members every year. Note that due to mergers, year-to-year figures for some producers are not comparable. Also note that not all steel is the same; some steel is more valuable than other steel, so volume is not the same as turnover.
