Episcopal Conference Of Uganda
The Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) or Episcopal Conference of Uganda is the local conference of Catholic Church, Roman Catholic bishops in Uganda, established in 1960. The UEC acts primarily through the Uganda Catholic Secretariat in an effort to promote and coordinate social and pastoral ministry of the Catholic Church of Uganda. This task is performed through twelve committees including the liturgical-pastoral, dedicated to the apostolate of the laity, the Board of justice and peace, as education and training of priests, and those on ecumenism and interreligious dialogue. The statutes of the Conference were approved by the Holy See on September 8, 1974. The UEC is a member of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) and Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM). Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is a private University affiliated with the Roman Catholicism in Uganda, Roman Catholic Church in Uganda. Uganda Catholic Television
Uganda Catholic Television (UCTV) is a Ugandan television station under the Uganda Episcopal Conference. Uganda Catholic Television began test-transmitting in 2020 on Free-to-air (FTA) services. The Catholic television station is now on Zuku channel 74, where it broadcasts news, infotainment, evangelization, live papal events, and edutainment content. Background The idea to establish UCTV was conceived by the Uganda Episcopal Conference in 2018. Operations started in 2020 but due to financial constraints and other factors, the channel did not commence regular programming and was testing its signal on free-to-air broadcasting primarily in the Kampala area until June 3, 2023, when it was launched. Joseph Anthony Zziwa (born 16 February 1956) is a Ugandan Roman Catholic prelate who serves as the Bishop of the Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana. Gulu
Gulu is a city in the Northern Region of Uganda. It is the commercial and administrative centre of Gulu District. The coordinates of the city of Gulu are 2°46'54.0"N 32°17'57.0"E. John Baptist Odama (born 20 July 1947) is a Ugandan Roman Catholic priest, who serves as the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Gulu, in Uganda, since 2 January 1999. Matthias Ssekamaanya (born 15 October 1936), is a Ugandan Roman Catholic prelate who is the Bishop Emeritus of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lugazi, Uganda. He served as bishop of Lugazi from 30 November 1996 until his retirement on 4 November 2014.
