Enjoy Records
Enjoy Records was a record label owned and operated by Bobby Robinson from 1962 through the mid-1980s, and was run out of his record shop at 125th Street and 8th Ave. in Harlem. A record label, or record company, is a brand or trademark of music recordings and music videos, or the company that owns it. Treacherous Three
The Treacherous Three was a pioneering American hip hop group that was formed in 1978 and consisted of DJ Easy Lee, Kool Moe Dee, L.A. Sunshine, Special K and Spoonie Gee (who left in the late 1970s), with occasional contributions from DJ Dano B, DJ Reggie Reg and DJ Crazy Eddie. They first appeared on record in 1980 on the B-side of Spoonie Gee's single, "Love Rap". ''The Best of Enjoy! Records'' is a 1989 compilation album of early hip hop music released by the Enjoy! Records music label. The album was part of a series of compilation albums from Hot Records covering various releases from American and British independent music labels. Retrospective reviews of the album from ''The Rough Guide to Hip-Hop'' and ''Spin'' and the ''Oakland Tribune'' as containing some of the best music of early hip hop. Content Hot Productions released a nine-volume compilation album of "Best Of..." series in late 1989 that were double albums that trace back to the beginning of various New York music scenes, British independent dance music, and more. These ranged from compilations for "O" Records, Personal Records, as well as early hip hop music from the Enjoy! label. Everloving Records
Everloving Records was founded in 2003, having been Enjoy Records from 2000. With the success of Jack Johnson's debut ''Brushfire Fairytales'' the original, though defunct, Enjoy Records phoned up to reclaim their moniker. Everloving began with Jack's album, which was produced by co-founder J. P. Plunier. The company began when A&R veteran Andy Factor and Plunier partnered, after having worked together for Ben Harper. Plunier is Harper's manager and Factor was his A&R man. Shortly after "Brushfire Fairytales", Everloving had a hit with ''Mad World'' from the film ''Donnie Darko''. That was composed by Tears for Fears and arranged by Michael Andrews and featured the vocals of Gary Jules. It went #1 in the UK at Christmas 2003, two years after the film had come out. Spoonie Gee
Gabriel Jackson (born May 27, 1963), better known by his stage name Spoonie Gee, is one of the earliest rap artists, and one of the few to have released rap records in the 1970s. He has been credited with originating the term hip hop and some of the themes in his music were precursors of gangsta rap. Funky 4 + 1 was an American hip hop group from The Bronx, New York, composed of Jazzy Jeff, Sharon Green, D.J. Breakout, Guy Williams, Keith Keith, The Voice of K.K. and Rodney Stone. The latter two members also performed together as the duo Double Trouble, notably in the film ''Wild Style''. They were the first hip hop group to receive a record deal, as well as the first to perform live on national television. The group was also notable for being the first to have a woman MC, Sha-Rock.
