English Young Liberals
The English Liberal Democrats, officially the Liberal Democrats in England, is the state party within the Liberal Democrats that operates in England. It is a federation of the eleven regional parties in England and the English branch of the youth and student organisation. The regions are further divided into local parties. The party currently holds 65 of the English seats in the House of Commons and two seats on the London Assembly. Organisation English Council The English Council is the sovereign body of the English party. It consists of the chairs of regional parties, representatives elected by regional party members, and representatives of the organisation representing youth and student members within the English party. Caroline Pidgeon
Caroline Valerie Pidgeon, Baroness Pidgeon, (born 29 September 1972), is a British politician. She served as the leader of the Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly from 2010 to 2024, and was a member of the London Assembly (AM) from 2008 to 2024. Pidgeon was a councillor on Southwark London Borough Council from 1998 to 2010 and has been a member of the House of Lords since 2024. Early life and education Pidgeon was born in Eastleigh, Hampshire, on 29 September 1972 to Eric and Valerie Pidgeon. She grew up in Hampshire, and was the first member of her family to go to university, graduating from Aberystwyth University with a degree in economics in 1994. Margaret Joachim
Reverend Doctor Margaret Jane Joachim (born 25 June 1949) is a British former Liberal Party and current Liberal Democrat politician who was chair of the Women's Liberal Democrats. Background Joachim was the daughter of Reginald and Joyce Margaret Carpenter. She was educated at Brighton and Hove High School, St Hugh's College, Oxford (MA Geology) and the University of Birmingham (PhD Geology). In 1970 she married Paul Joseph Joachim. They had one daughter. Political career Joachim was Liberal candidate for the West Gloucestershire at the 1979 General Election, finishing third. Gareth Roberts (politician)
Gareth David Roberts is a British Liberal Democrat politician, serving as the Member of the London Assembly (AM) for South West since 2024 and the leader of Richmond Upon Thames Council since 2018. He currently serves as the London Liberal Democrats' spokesperson on Police and Crime, the Environment and the budget process on the London Assembly. Early life and education Roberts was born in 1971, the son of Dave Roberts, a Labour city councillor in Derby. He graduated in classics from St Mary's University, Twickenham. Hina Bokhari
Hina Bokhari (born 10 August 1975) is a British politician and educator. A member of the Liberal Democrats, Bokhari has served as a Member of the London Assembly since the 2021 election. In May 2024, she was elected to serve as Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly, making her the first British Asian to lead a party group in the assembly. The West Midlands is one of nine official regions of England at the first level of International Territorial Level for statistical purposes. It covers the western half of the area known traditionally as the Midlands.
