''Endless Love'' is a 1981 American romantic drama film directed by Franco Zeffirelli and starring Brooke Shields, Martin Hewitt, Shirley Knight, Don Murray, Richard Kiley, Penelope Milford, and Beatrice Straight. The film also marks the feature film debut of Tom Cruise. Adapted from the 1979 novel of the same name by Scott Spencer, the screenplay was written by Judith Rascoe. The original score was composed by Jonathan Tunick. While the novel is set during the summer of 1969, the film updates the setting to the early 1980s and presents the narrative in chronological order, omitting the non-linear structure of the source material. Scott Spencer (born September 1, 1945) is an American author who has written fourteen novels. He also wrote the screenplay for the 1993 movie '' Father Hood''. Two of Spencer's novels, '' Endless Love'' and '' Waking the Dead,'' have been adapted into films. ''Endless Love'' was first adapted into a motion picture by Franco Zeffirelli in 1981, and a second adaptation by Shana Feste was released in 2014. Pankaj Udhas (17 May 1951 – 26 February 2024) was an Indian ghazal and playback singer known for his works in Hindi cinema, and Indian pop. He started his career with the release of a ghazal album titled ''Aahat'' in 1980 and subsequently recorded many hits like ''Mukarar'' in 1981, ''Tarrannum'' in 1982, ''Mehfil'' in 1983, ''Pankaj Udhas Live at Royal Albert Hall'' in 1984, ''Nayaab'' in 1985 and ''Aafreen'' in 1986. Sivert Høyem (born 22 January 1976) is a Norwegian musician, best known as the vocalist of the rock band Madrugada. After the band broke up following the death of Robert Burås in 2007, he has enjoyed success as a solo artist and is also a member of The Volunteers with whom he released the album ''Exiles'' in 2006.
