Elreen Ando
Elreen Ann Quinilitan Ando (born November 1, 1998) is a Filipino weightlifter. Career A native of Carreta, Cebu City, Ando became part of the Philippine national weightlifting team after she was scouted by coaches Garry Toleno and former olympian Ramon Solis when she was still a junior high school student at the University of Cebu (UC). As a result, UC then granted her a collegiate scholarship. Ando participated at the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan where she clinched three medals: bronze in snatch, silver in the clean and jerk, and another silver for the overall lift. Ando competed in the -64 kg women's weightlifting event of the 2020 Summer Olympics. She qualified through the Absolute Continental Ranking. She placed seventh overall, but set new personal bests in the process. 2021 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2021 World Weightlifting Championships was a weightlifting competition held from 7 to 17 December in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Due to concerns about the rapid spread of Omicron variant and held shortly after Olympics and Chinese National Games, the tournament faced the absence of many strong competitors. 10 Olympic champions from Tokyo four months earlier, 15 world champion title holders, and entire teams from China, North Korea, Italy and Germany decided not to compete. Weightlifters competing at the event were exempt from the required quarantine when visiting Uzbekistan. The event was also designated the 2021 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships, with places in the 2022 Commonwealth Games awarded to the best Commonwealth lifter (totals only, as per the Olympics) in each eligible division. The World Weightlifting Championships is an event organised by International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The first competition, held in March 1891, was won by Edward Lawrence Levy of England.
