2019 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2019 World Weightlifting Championships was held in Pattaya, Thailand from 18 to 27 September 2019. On September 12, Egypt was banned from competing at these Championships due to multiple doping offenses. The host nation, Thailand, was also banned from the Championships for the same reason. Pattaya is a city in Eastern Thailand, the second-largest city in Chonburi province and the List of municipalities in Thailand, eighth-largest city in Thailand. Andranik Karapetyan (; born December 15, 1995, in Vagharshapat, Armenia), is an Armenian weightlifter. He was selected to compete for Armenia at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Weightlifting, the men's -89 kg. Biography Karapetyan won a gold medal at the 2016 European Weightlifting Championships snatching 170 kg and clean and jerking 197 kg, setting 367 kg for total. Shi Zhiyong (; born 10 October 1993) is a Chinese weightlifter, two time Olympic Champion, three time World Champion and four time Asian Champion competing in the 69 kg category until 2018 and 73 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories.
