Ellis Faas
Ellis Faas (21 February 1962 – 12 August 2020) was a Dutch make-up artist. Faas was born in Rijswijk. After her graduation from high-school, Faas did a professional course in photography, and always used herself as her model. In order to look different each and every time, she discovered the versatility of make up. She decided to move from Amsterdam to Paris in order to study at Christian Chauveau's school for makeup. After this she went to London, where she found the creative jobs she was looking for. After the birth of her daughter, Faas moved back to Amsterdam where she was contacted by Inez van Lamsweerde. With her Faas made e.g. the awarded campaign for Louis Vuitton. Other work with Van Lamsweerde can now be seen in various museums. Faas' international break-through came when Mario Testino was in the Netherlands to do a shoot for L’Uomo Vogue. Rijswijk
Rijswijk (), formerly known as Ryswick ( ) in English, is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. Its population was 59.642 in 2024, and it has an area of , of which is water. The municipality also includes the former hamlets of 't Haantje and Sion, currently also known as Rijswijk Buiten. Emanuel Ungaro (13 February 1933 – 21 December 2019) was a French fashion designer who founded his eponymous fashion house in 1965. Early life Ungaro's Italian father fled to France from Francavilla Fontana of Brindisi province because of the fascist dictatorship in Italy. Olivier Theyskens
Olivier Theyskens (; born January 4, 1977) is a Belgian fashion designer who has worked with major design houses, including Rochas, Nina Ricci and Theory. Early life Theyskens was born to a Belgian chemical engineer and a French homemaker. Theyskens attended École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre in October 1994 to study fashion design. He dropped out in 1997 to start his own label. Sonia Rykiel (; ; 25 May 1930 – 25 August 2016) was a French fashion designer and writer. She created the Poor Boy Sweater, which was featured on the cover of French ''Elle'' magazine. Her knitwear designs and new fashion techniques led her to be dubbed the "Queen of Knits". The Sonia Rykiel label was founded in 1968, upon the opening of her first store, making clothing, accessories, and fragrances. Rykiel was also a writer, and her first book was published in 1979. In 2012, Rykiel revealed that she was suffering from Parkinson's disease. She died from complications of the disease on 25 August 2016.
