Elizabeth C. Economy
Elizabeth C. Economy (born 27 December 1962) is an American political scientist, foreign policy analyst, and expert on China's politics and foreign policy. She is the Hargrove Senior Fellow and co-chair of the Program on the US, China, and the World at the Hoover Institution. From 2021 to 2023, she served as the senior advisor for China in the Department of Commerce. Economy was previously at the Council on Foreign Relations, where she served as the C.V. Starr Senior Fellow and director for Asia Studies for over two decades. Education and career Dr. Economy received her undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College, her Master of Arts from Stanford University and completed her PhD in Political Science at the University of Michigan. Economy is an acclaimed author and expert on Chinese domestic and foreign policy. Her most recent book is ''The World According to China''. The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an international non-governmental organization, international advocacy non-governmental organization and think tank, based in Cologny, Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. It was founded on 24 January 1971 by German engineer Klaus Schwab.
