Hebrew Language
Hebrew (; ''ʿÎbrit'') is a Northwest Semitic language within the Afroasiatic language family. A regional dialect of the Canaanite languages, it was natively spoken by the Israelites and remained in regular use as a first language until after 200 CE and as the liturgical language of Judaism (since the Second Temple period) and Samaritanism. The language was revived as a spoken language in the 19th century, and is the only successful large-scale example of linguistic revival. It is the only Canaanite language, as well as one of only two Northwest Semitic languages, with the other being Aramaic, still spoken today. The earliest examples of written Paleo-Hebrew date back to the 10th century BCE. Eliyahu Hakim
Eliyahu Hakim (; January 2, 1925 – March 22, 1945) was a Lehi member, known for participating in the 1944 assassination of Lord Moyne, the British Minister Resident in the Middle East. Hakim fired the fatal shots at Moyne. Biography Born in Beirut, Mandate for Syria and the Lebanon to a Lebanese-Jewish family, Hakim moved to Mandatory Palestine with his family when he was seven. He grew up in the port city of Haifa. As a teenager, he joined Lehi, and then volunteered for the British Army during World War II. Posted to Cairo, Hakim deserted in order to continue his anti-British activities on behalf of Lehi. As a member of Lehi, he participated in an assassination attempt against Harold MacMichael, the British High Commissioner for Palestine, in 1944. Otzma Yehudit () is a Far-right politics in Israel, far-right, ultranationalist, Kahanism, Kahanist, and Anti-Arab racism, anti-Arab List of political parties in Israel, political party in Israel. Amihai Ben-Eliyahu (; born 24 April 1979), commonly known as Amihai Eliyahu (), is an Israeli far-right politician and activist who has served as Minister of Heritage since 2025. Shlomo Eliahu (; born 18 January 1936) is an Israeli businessman, billionaire, and former politician who served as a member of the Knesset between 1978 and 1981. Biography Born in Baghdad in 1936, Eliahu emigrated to Israel in 1950 with his parents and eight siblings. After initially being based in a ma'abara at Beit Lid, his family moved to Kiryat Shalom. Eliyahu Moshe Panigel
Eliyahu Moshe Panigel (; 1850–1919) was the Sephardi chief rabbi of the Ottoman Empire, Zion and Jerusalem. Orphaned at a young age, Panigel was brought up by his uncle Raphael Meir Panigel, the '' rishon le-Zion'' (Sephardi chief rabbi of Zion). He was sent to Algeria to collect funds for the Misgav Ladach Hospital in Jerusalem and to North Africa, Italy, India, the Caucasus and Bokhara, by the Jerusalem community. After the death of Jacob Saul Elyashar in 1906, a dispute arose within the community as to who should be appointed his successor. The more modern members supported Jacob Meir while the more traditional supported Chaim Moses Elyashar. Meir assumed the position for a few months before he was deposed by the Sultan of Turkey.
